So me & a friend go to this club/bar on Saturday night around 11:00 we have 3 beers each before we go into the place and we both have 3 more inside the club for a total of 6 each. We both leave around 1:00. I get in my car start driving and within less than a quarter of a mile I see blue lights behind me. but its the person directly behind who gets pulled over. I continue driving another quarter mile or so and what do I see right behind little tiny blue lights that suddenly become huge and are right on me. I stop. holy shit I can smell those beers. I get my drivers license & insurance ready. I look and there are 2 police cars behind me. FUCK ME!! It takes him a while but the officer finally comes over to me and says,
Officer: "Where are you coming from tonight?" ..
me: "from the club down the street"
Officer: "are you aware of an altercation which occurred at this bar"
me: "NO!!"
Officer: "Sir have you had anything to drink tonight"
me: "Honestly sir... yes I have"
Officer: "I need for you to step out of the vehicle ... I'm not arresting you but somebody pointed you out as being involved in an altercation and I need to take back over there"So here I'm getting cuffed and placed into the back of the squad car ... SO COMFORTABLE let me tell ya ...
He circles back around and heads back to the club. He pulls up to where the original car I saw get pulled over and goes to talk to the other officer. So here I'm sitting in a very uncomfortable position .. trying to only breathe out of my nose for fear that breathing out of my mouth will release more beer vapors ... and man I can see the beer molecules all around me ... 5 minutes later the cop comes back drive me over to the where the bar is .. he gets out and is approached by another officer ... he shines his flashlight in my face and then gets back in the car and says
"Sir, you have cleared of these altercation charges, I will now take you back to your car"we get back to my car. He helps me out of the squad car and removes the cuffs.
I turn around and there is another officer with him. WTF?? there is an awkward moment of like 5 seconds of silence... they both just stare at me ... and finally the one that cuffed me says , "Sir ... do you think it ok for you to be driving around after having 3 beers"
I say "No Sir .. its not" He replies with
"Would you object to a sobriety field test"
I say, somewhat hesitantly "No Sir"1st test:
say my abc's up to the letter K ... no singing no humming. ok easy enough
"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO.... damn went past K"
test failed!ok Sir,
2nd test
count to five with your thumb to your index finger then to your middle finbger all the way to your pinky and then go backwards from 5 to 1
so 12345 54321 ... I think I got this one right
so nervous that I'm not sure ..ok Sir,
3rd test
hands on your side and put your right foot in front of your left and count 9 paces .. on the 9th step pivot on that foot turn 180 and do 9 steps back
ok balance don't fail me now.
right foot in front of left .. left in front of right
oh shit a slight stagger ... left in front of right fuck another slight stagger .. ok I finish!!
they are both looking at me and I say
"Officer, Im just really nervous "the 2 officers whisper something to each other and then the first one approaches me...
at this point I'm waiting for him to say sir place your hands behind your back ... but alas NO he says sir I'm going to escort you to the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) down the street .. you get yourself some coffee and water and food and just chill. he apologizes for pulling me over initially and then they both escort me to the International House of Pancakes. The ham& cheese omlette was the best ever. My waiter was lucky enough to get me that night... the meal was $10 ... I gave him $40

Jesus, so hold on. Cuffing you and driving you back to the scene of a crime to be ID'd is legal?
I'm no Perry Mason or Matlock but may want to check on that before next time. I've never heard of that before.- being cuffed and detained is not the same as being arrested.monospaced

Great story, I'm sure Kona has something that will top this though.

What was the crime? How hardcore was the fight? If it wasn't "hardcore" then don't even waste my time with a story.

haha, that was close! I was expecting to read, 'they escorted me to a secluded, dirty motel so that I can dance for them....'

I failed a sobriety test once - I believe I got off on a technicality, as I wasn't operating a motor vehicle at the time. I was trying to put gas in my car, but the pumps were [apparently] closed. It would give me $.03 of gas and switch off. Just then 2 cops pulled up and started questioning me. They asked me where I lived, which happened to only be a block away from the gas station. The cop must have been in a good mood, because after I failed the horizontal nystagmus test [the eye tracking test] she asked for my keys, pulled the car over to a parking space and told me to walk home and pick it up in the morning. The thought of what could have happened has stuck with me, I no longer drive if I've had more than 2-3 drinks in an evening.

you are very lucky. this should prove a point to you though, a $30 cab ride is far cheaper than a $10,000 DUI and the possibility of hurting someone.
we've all done it, I'm certainly not innocent of driving past the point of the legal limit (though I never drive if I think my judgment is impaired). But now I just cab ride or use a DD. it's really just not worth it.- DD as in Double D's bimbo that can drive you home?OSFA
