I've been trying hard of late to tech myself good use considered typography and grids.
Got this design on the go for a new client:

What do you think? It's not HTMLified yet but you get the idea...

Not bad. Hmm, have you considered dropping the background pattern, or at least fade it down to 10% or even 5% opacity? And perhaps integrate the content elements (pictures etc) more directly into the design. Perhaps have them fill out the width of the area / act as a header of some sort.
Also there is something with that font in the header ("New for 2009..") .. a little too much noise/grain or whatever. Dunno. Keep it up tho :)

Its ok, better with the muted bg pattern but perhaps you need to bump up the opacity a little, its gone somewhat washy.
Agree that there probably too much space between the nav and content and also between the logo/nav and intro copy/content. Tighten it up a bit but not too much the whitespace is good.
Think you could also introduce some more colour to it, its a bit flat at the moment, even a muted colour palatte of grays combined with the orange and black could lift it a little.
Also not sure about the horizontal lines, are they needed? They just kind of float at the moment, too far away from anything. Consider dropping them altogether just to see if it frees up the page a bit.

kushman, like the site a lot. It's nice and minimal and nice use of type. But like some of the comments above maybe add more color? Have you tried a dark brown? Try that and then use an orange tone for links and H1 ect might look good.
But over all nice one chap!
