anyone know the trick to getting clean photos off an LCD screen?

i've read advice that the shutter speed should match refresh rate, and then some conflicting comments that LCD's don't have refresh rates.

i screwed around with different speeds and getting somewhat random results.

can you set it up with a tripod, take multiple shots, lay them on top of each other, and mask out the banded areas?

    • possibly, but too much labor for what i want to dohorton

could it have something to do with the final resolution required by the lcd screen you're using?

close curtains , turn lights low.

long exposure should do the trick. [ 1/2 to 1 second for computer screens and 1/4 to 1/8 second for TV images ]

if you look at a LCD through your camera you'll see the moiré like banding.

looks like really slow shutter speeds might help. haven't dumped tests into photoshop yet but images on the camera display are looking better.

smear syrup on the screen to eliminate moire interference. Corn syrup is ideal as it's clear, but maple will do as well provided it's not 'butter flavour' which can be difficult to correct for in post.

    • try to avoid licking the screenribit1/3
      ahem... that's the best part.monNom2/3
well just try not to leave too many pancakes obscuring the main picture area..ribit3/3

Use a long shutter speed. Like 1/2 second.
