    Hi.

I’m creating a custom screensaver for a client in Flash, but to use it on Mac it needs to be a .qtz (Quartz composer movie).

Anyone had any luck getting a custom animated screensaver to work?

I've used this in the past but there are other apps for this. Not sure about the .qtz bit though, never used that format before.

yeah, i've used screentimeforflash before and it was fine. the only bastard was that you needed the PC and the Mac versions to create either.

    • Aye, its a bit shite, reminds me of the old director days!ian

Thanks, bit pricey given I only need to create one version though. What formats have you been able to use instead of.qtz?

Screentime is a load of pish as you have to buy both versions MAC and PC.

I just did one for PC and MAC for a client, i found this ...

Much more competitively priced than screentime and you only need to buy one version.
You can make screensavers from FLA's but you can also build screensavers from movies/images slideshows without having to open flash.

    highly recommended!

.qtz could play a looping quicktime file if its just a very simple screensaver.

or you could recreate your flash in Quartz Composer depending on what the screensaver is. QC is pretty awesome and you can do some really cool effects with it, but it just depends what your screensaver does
