No CS3 app has crashed on me yet, and Ive used them daily, in conjunction, for a year already. What causes Illustrator to crash?

Illustrator only handles so many points before it crashes... Silly me had done 4 hours of work creating a multi-colour, piece of art with zillions of points and then it crashed :(
too damn use to the auto backup gloriousness of ID.
Come on Adobe. PS and Illy should get these (Illy shouldn't be too hard either!!) Even if it only saves simple vector steps and not filters we'd be 90% of the way there.

on the verge of buying CS3. Curious if this is an announcement of CS4 or a release of CS4.

It's an announcement. Best to wait though until they announce the update cut-off. (In the past they've given a grace period for free upgrades if you buy shortly before the new version comes out)

i've heard rumours through the ether that they'll eventually be a CS5 release. now that may be called something else, it's not concrete yet. just blows your mind really. here i was back in '94 thinking, will there ever be anything but photoshop 2.5 and before i knew it, boom, a new version. wow. i mean, when will it end...
