Ok, I'm sick of people bagging on the 2012 logo (aside from the union jack version).
With the exception of the munich and mexico olympics, the majority of identities and overall look and feels for olympics have been awful. They all follow the same formula of the same symbols, the same brush stroke look.I think the 2012 logo is a great piece of work, the look and feel that goes with it and is derived from the logo is also strong. I've been working with the guidelines for 2012 recently, and if you could all see that document you'd change your mind about it all. Put it this way, it's 4 years away and there's a lot that hasn't been seen yet, the look and feel of the brand hasn't even begun to be seen.
Compare all the old olympic logos and the 2016 ones and you'll see how distinctive and unique the london one is. We won't have the budget of china so we can't just throw loads of cash at the games to make them good. I think 2012 will be good from creativity and being different.
How many of us would have come up with the 2012 work, or would we all have followed the tradition of bland olympic logos?- ah it says 2012********
