I'll put my question here so it doesn't get buried in unrelated notes ;)

When Putin said "that's up to the president" was he referring to Obama? Putin? the future US President? ...and "Let the prez talk to them," to whom? the Russians?

    • Just like Reagan joked once "we are bombing Russia" Trump also made a poor joke and left it at that. The media just got a hold of his quip and ran with it.robotron3k
    • and when mono saw the article, he rubbed one out for Hilary...robotron3k
    • awe, yuri's best friend to his defense, bringing me into this like a total prickmonospaced
    • also, I wish he "left it at that." the guy has been fielding questions, doubling up, backing down, changing his story many times in the last few hoursmonospaced
    • the idiot is now saying that he never even met Putin, after months of saying they were somehow closemonospaced
    • wow, mono took you almost 10 whole minutes to come up with that snappy response... I see I got you by the short hairs.robotron3k

and to think there are actually human beings in my country that believe this moron is mentally fit to lead this nation? even if he was just joking, how in the world does a presidential candidate say something like that? he is getting roasted on every news channel right now.

oh... wait... not surprising many of his supporters are inbred racist white males that watch nascar/wwe. sorry, i dont care about some email shit, i feel WAY better handling the keys to the white house over to hillary. even his slogan is dumb as shit. make american great again. its great today you fucking nazi! he doesnt even care about any of us. this whole thing was just brand building for him anyway. if anyone thinks this halfwit cares about anything other than money, youve been swindled by his lies and bullshit in his quest for more money and power.

  • mg334

Cygnus, you'll enjoy what i posted on FB earlier today about him saying he hopes Russia can find the emails:

    --
OK, here it is. Pretend Trump isn't a narcissistic asshole and a petulant child living in the body of an out-of-shape 70-something year old man. Then pretend that his business experience is somehow relevant to national governance; for the sake of discussion we'll pretend that his career as a self-promoter and branding behemoth that has made a fortune licensing his name to mediocre products, many of which eventually failed, somehow equates to a qualification worthy of being president. Pretend that his main obsession in life isn't popularity and being loved and winning at all costs. Pretend that a multi-billionaire who has never wanted for anything in his life, that has never struggled, somehow has any idea what the working class people of this country want or need. Good with that? OK, next.

Pretend for a minute that the things he says, the wild ideas he claims are so easy, actually have a legitimate strategy attached to them, with legitimate tactics that can be carried out. For example, a budget, timeline, cost analysis, etc on a border wall. A concrete methodology for deporting tens-of-thousands of illegal immigrants a day, and the cost of hiring thousands of government employees to do it. An actual military strategy that isn't the words "bomb the hell out of ISIS." Pretend he has all that figured out. Try even harder to pretend he even could or will figure it out. Challenging, I know.

Lastly, pretend he hasn't made America look like a joke on the global stage since he started his campaign. Pretend the world needs more insane rhetoric, illogical ideas, xenophobia, and American nationalism that manifests itself as oppression and violence against minorities and immigrants, among other things. Pretend none of that exists and that he's conducting himself with a level of dignity and class you'd expect of a president. Good with that? Do we have our pretending all in order?

Now, tell me how in the world you can take someone like this seriously when you read this article. Tell me me how, because I'm dumbfounded on a daily basis by stuff like this, but this really takes the cake. I'll withhold judgement of anyone personally, but count me as one of the millions of Americans who are shocked that people are accepting this, and even worse, empowering it every single day.

    • All I can say is be worried, few in the UK thought Brexit would actually happen (including those leading the campaign) but the great misinformed/easily ledfadein11
    • voted for it... scary days. People are fed up and putting their trust in total morons. It's going to be a v.close call I reckon.fadein11
    • Well put.monospaced
    • I also put in a disclaimer saying I was deleting any reply with "but Hillary..." People really need to learn to stay on topic and stay in context.mg33
    • The misdirection away from the point is a clear indication that they don't know what they're talking about, or they just get off on agitating people.mg33

"...essentially encouraging an adversarial foreign power’s cyberspying on a secretary of state’s correspondence"

One big thing that's lost with this presumption...

Clinton hasn't been Secretary of State since 2013. So unless the Russians have discovered time travel, no it's not possible to hack a past Secretary of States illegal mail server and recover emails she illegally deleted.

    • It's assumed that a number of foreign powers likely did hack it since it was unsecured. If they release those documents, yes the media would have a field day.IRNlun6

So, Trumpy-boy, do you think the Geneva Conventions are out of date?

"I think everything is out of date," Trump responded, adding, "I am a person that believes in enhanced interrogation."

This kind of shit really bothers me. It is now widely accepted that torturing people DOES NOT provide useful intelligence. But people like Trump don't care what the data shows. They'd rather imagine a world is like an episode of 24 with Jack Bauer saving the world at the last minute by water-boarding and screaming real hard at some suspect. I'm so tired of idiots who refuse to live in reality.

    • Putin has contacts in trump camp through his property dealings in Russia2002
  • IRNlun6-6

Well, this is ironic. The US and Russia apparently have a treaty on mutual legal assistance on criminal matters. Signed by none other than Bill Clinton.

    • How is aiding in criminal investigations questionable? It's called helping each other out. Most nations work together to do this. Derp.monospaced
    • It literally says the assistance won't break the laws of either nation. It's just so criminal justice systems can share data. So what were you saying?monospaced
    • Mrs. Clintons 30,000 deleted emails is a criminal offense.IRNlun6
    • And that has nothing to do with this. Your point?monospaced
    • "providing document, records and other items"IRNlun6
    • The media has spent the entire day criticizing Trump for asking Putin for the illegally deleted documents.IRNlun6
    • But since she isn't Russian, her email server was in the US and she didn't flee there, none of what you're saying applies.monospaced
    • LOL. you're implying the leaks were a result of Russia cooperating with a federal investigation because of some conspiracy involving bill? So fucking stupid.monospaced
    • It does since Trump said "I hope you're able to find." Either way, a lot of attention on a federal crime.IRNlun6
    • They're criticizing trump because his assumption is ludicrous, reckless, uninformed and frankly, dangerous. Not to mention, idiotic.monospaced
    • What could be more dangerous than dismissing a Secretary of States crime?IRNlun6
    • During congressional hearings they wheren't allowed to name of the agency that provides clearance to the documents found on her server.IRNlun6
    • This would be more like if the U.S. government requested help from Russia on a case.yuekit
    • The FBI found plenty of evidence of a crime, they said so. They just decided to not charge her. People aren't just going to let it go away.IRNlun6
    • A little different from someone encouraging Russian hackers to break into the server of their political opponent, no?yuekit
    • No one encouraged hackers, read his quote. The state department reopened the case earlier this month so the request is perfectly legitimate.IRNlun6
    • Cmon IRNlun6, you can't be serious.yuekit
    • This thing you posted is obviously for when the U.S. requests help. Not for Russia to go around randomly stealing information.yuekit
    • Trump encouraged the hackers. Today!monospaced
    • She committed a serious crime. Why is this being dismissed as if it's nothing? I don't care who asks Russia. If they have something, share it.IRNlun6
    • It wasn't dismissed. And it also has nothing to do with the treaty you posted here.monospaced
    • He did not encourage hackers. Listen to his quote.IRNlun6
    • "Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing." That encouraging it. He is literally hoping it is happening.monospaced
    • Regardless. You're implying that the same government that is conspiring to keep Hillary out of prison is the same one that is leaking DNC emails. Please.monospaced
    • Choose a conspiracy or two but at least make sure they don't directly contradict each other. Really doesn't look good.monospaced
    • "I hope you're able to find is" not encouraging hacking. Especially since the server is long gone.IRNlun6
    • Exactly why Trump's statement is fucking idiotic and therefore the entire point of this post is irrelevant.monospaced
    • If it's not encouraging what is it by the way? reason I ask is that you seem to be the lone person on the planet who doesn't see it that way. Besides yurimonospaced
    • The only conspiracy in all this is Russia being involved in DNC hacks. Which is unprovable since a number of countries and individuals are capable.IRNlun6
