Clients and Politics 1010 Responses

Now, I shouldn't be irritated because we bill by the hour, but when a client calls to go on a diatribe about how my political beliefs are what is ruining this country and spends an hour of my time chewing me out for supporting a different candidate, I want to hang up on them (actually, I want to cancel the contract and tell them to f*&@ off). Okay, I made the mistake of answering them when they innocently asked me whom I support, but do I have to deal w/ it every time I get on the phone?
What do you do in these situations? How do you resolve things amicably and curtail future political debates that do nothing but run up their bill and make me angry for the rest of the day?

Tell them you're billing them double for the time that he's vomiting in your eardrums

Simply say to them... "Just to let you know we ARE on the clock, so if you want to run up your bill talking politics that's fine with me, just no that it will be reflected on your next invoice."
Maybe end it with a "cunt" but wing it and just go with what your gut is telling you.
