My little girl started school today...

Off she went with her bag on her back. Her school bag was almost as big as her!

A great day really – a proud moment I must say.
    ... kids are cool!

Make sure her bag isn't too heavy :/

    • yeah her bag is ok Jaline, not too heavy yet. It's really massive though! and it was the smallest 1 we could find.jimzyk1/2
      :)
Just saying because I was the smallest for nearly every year and my bag was kind of heavy.

My oldest's first day at kindergarten was slightly marred by the fact that portions of the school he was in was still cleaning up mold that had grown throughout the school. Delayed the start for about a month and gave everyone anxiety (except maybe the kids).
But i agree, kids rock. It's amazing watching that little brain process the world and even more amazing when they start spitting it back out, making observations that we adults would have never thought of

growing up, every year my parents took a photo of my brother and I trudging off on the first day of school, the sunlight making halos of our hair as we walked past the orchard, our little backs bent under the weight of dreaded expectations

I love the way kids point out all the spastic/black/bald/armless people and single handedly destroy them (and you) with embarrassment.

Anyone else cry on their first day of school?
I feel like you can tell a lot about a person depending on the answer to this question. I cried for my parents, whereas my sister was extremely happy on her first day of school. She's the more out-going one still, to this day :)

    • I cried on my first day of work.Jnr_Madison1/9
      i cry every day i worklocustsloth2/9
I've only ever worked for one day, so me too.Jnr_Madison3/9

I didn't cry. I also walked to school every day.ismith5/9
I did kind of keep to myself though, as I'd just moved basically from Manhattan to bumfuck...ismith6/9
      I walked for a while as well.Jaline7/9
Think my brother walked me to school on my first day, I was devastated when he left. I cried buckets.ian8/9
      awwww.
My parents and I hid behind a fence when my little brother went to school for the first time :)

one of the most important things I learned in school I learned in chemistry class. it was that school was designed to confine students. This guy is responsible for the sorry state of education. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hor…
...actually we're all responsible for letting it stay the way it is.

Oddly, I still have nightmares about being back at school and not knowing which class I'm meant to be in.

I hated formal eduction. I was lucky though and did 2 less years of it than most people in this country.

    • i HATED it until i got to collegesputnik21/2
I didn't mind it but university was much better.Jaline2/2

are kids as cool as smoking?

    lol

sorry, i had just had to pick up on the "kids are cool" statement.
i hope that wasnt your reason for HAVING one.

JimZYK: "I think we should have kids"

JimZYK's Girl: "what makes you say that?, do you think that in the time we have spent together we have become stronger and more in love as a beautiful couple ready to take their next step in bringing up children and laying the foundations of a new generation ..... "

JimZYK: "nah, just coz kids are cool!"

Moth - I still get the occasional dream like that too, or old faces from high school randomly pop up in dreams and your like "how the feck did they appear in my dream?!"

    • A lot of people believe that men only like kids because they are a type of experiment, or are just mini versions of themselves, lolJaline1/3
