XP Rollback? 1212 Responses

My boss' laptop got stolen out of his car earlier this week..so he's out shopping for a new one - he mostly runs all the financial and database aps (non-creative)..and everything we have in the office is XP and everything in the stores is Vista. I told him to just buy whatever and we can roll it back to XP..and he just called me telling me the store manager (wherever he is at - Best Buy or whatever) is giving him horror stories about the impossibility of rolling anything back from Vista - to whit I told my boss that's basically bullshit...but now he's all freaked out and not listening to me...
Are there any problems to this that I am unaware of and the local minimum wage nitwit at Best Buy might be privy too?

my only thought would be installing the drivers for the various laptop peripherals - if they are vista only you may run into some frustration.

walk the guy round to the cables section and point to a standard USB cable and say "how can you be right about ANYTHING when you think $40 is the right price for a $2 cable", then punch him to the ground on all our behalfs..
Fucking best buy..

Because their management have a policy of getting the floor people to constantly try to tell me the thing I want isn't the thing I really want, and the thing Im supposed to 'really' want or need is a) Crap, and b) more expensive.
This, plus the lack of training in simple customer service and the fact that they just hover and eye you inconspicuously makes for a very poor customer experience and the feeling of being hounded.
Yes, give the clerks shit if they treat you in a way that you would not expect to be treated anywhere else, ever, then they can tell their managers who can change the policy and take a good look at the reasons why people that use computers and accessories all day, such as myself, never go in there and spend all of our techonology budget somewhere else.
