they don't. It's all about how you handle yourself. Don't let them thin you're weak or a novice. Be straight forward, listen, if you think they are right or they make sense, absorb it and apply it in the future, if they are just talking crap or talking about how great they are, ignore them and walk away....
But never, NEVER!! take it personally...

I'm guessing that you respect this guy's work, at least to some extent... Just try to get back to where you were before the interview, remind yourself of why you were confident of your work in the first place and next time just don't let it get to you. Or, if you feel that there's something to what he's saying use it to drive you in the future. I love harsh critique because once I'm totally wrecked emotionally, I've got nothing left but a challenge to get better. Good luck, would love to see your portfolio.
