The difficulty with this is that obviously the kid was unhinged and he is nuts but, we all watch scarey movies and hopefully none of us want to kill folk, but the main difference is that you are not actively involved in the movie. In the game you physically kill folk so there is quite a difference between a game and other forms of violent entertainment.

This debate won't ever be a simple one.
Those of us that started on Atari 2600 systems will, most likely, look at games like Grand Theft as at least slightly disturbing.
Personally, I think the blame is society wide, including Hollywood horror/torture flicks. I am surprised it isn't a lot worse. My issue is that you can show a guys head getting cut off in gruesome detail, but not a little nudity??
In the end, though, humans have been barbaric and psychotic from the beginning of time.
