  My computer had to get repaired as a result of getting zapped during an electrical incident about 12 days ago. Tekserve seems completely unsure what's wrong and tells me "hopefully" they'll find something out this week.

  Is this an outrageous amount of time and cause for me demanding the computer back so I can bring it to Apple for the repair?

  The computer's 8 months old so it's under warranty.

  you can go to apple from 6 to 7am in the morning and you don't have to have a reservation. you just walk right up to them and tell them your problem. Tekserve way to small, understaffed and not professional. it's the same way with mikey's hookup in brooklyn.

  your logic board is most likely fried.. not always easy to diagnose.

  first thing, they are good. but yes it maybe over their head.

  you need to bring it to apple and play dumb. make sure you go to 5th ave, DO NOT GO TO SOHO or MEAT packing.. MUCH better service and your genius will be on time. SOHO / Meatpacking about 30-40 min wait pass your appointment time.

  dont mention anything about being zapped or anything (unless there is a hug ass mark or dent)

  just play along, keep playing dumb. hope that you may give you a new one.

  just say it died for some reason. etc

  and yes, say that its taking too long and they are unable to fix. you may have to pay a small fee for their time i think

  Tekserve is great, but they have some big accounts that sucks up their staff. Sounds like an Apple job since it's such a new machine.
