What's the deal with them? I'm looking to get the most accurate colors I can, not necessarily size. I don't think I'll be buying soon, but I'm looking at either these, LaCie, or maybe the other obvious ones (Apple/Dell).

Afraid I can't answer your query, but I would like to know: Is there an affordable high resolution, i.e., 150+ppi, monitor available? That's what I want.

expensive for the pro ones.
have you looked at NEC?

prices differ drastically, but there is often the same panel on the inside. there are a limited number of panel manufacturers. some Dell and Eizo use the same panels, but you wouldn't know it from the price.
this site is your friend:
- I realized that, but don't know which models have which panels... thanks for the link.ismith

I have an eizo. its amazing. Paired with basiColor calibration software its the best. The software communicates with the monitor and does a hands free calibration.

you basically want an S-IPS panel for the most accurate color. stay away from TN and PVA panels
