Learning Arabic or Japanese? 1010 Responses

Any native English speakers here have experience learning either of these two languages? I'm just wondering what the difference in learning curve is between speaking it and writing, and if there are any good resources for learning more technical terms in either of these languages.

ha! lol. Forget about it. Writing Japanese is a fucking annoying nightmare. I gave up once I was starting to make coherent sentences.
I say stick to a western language otherwise you'll just give up with those Asian languages.

I can read about ten words in japanese and can speak and understand about 50 phrases, mostly they are related to trains and beer.

Took japanese in college and lived in Abu Dhabi. I'd say the learning curve is pretty steep and you have to keep up on it. I'd say they're equally hard because you have to learn how to read in different directions for both and neither of them us an alphabet you would be familiar with. Both also have vague similarities between the characters but I think arabic has a smaller character set.
