I have just eaten a Twirl.

It amazes me how Cadbury can appear to change the taste of their chocolate just by changing the shape of it.

What are you lot 'om nom nom nom'ing' on when you need a brown sugary hit?

I always notice how a piece of dairy milk tastes different from a chocolate button, which tastes different from a twirl. But I assume it's the same recipe!

I'll tell you something else, too... if you cut a Mars bar up into 4 or 5 pieces and eat it that way instead of just chomping on it out of the wrapper it tastes sooo much better. Weird.

    • Yes! Chopped up Mars on a plate. Chilled first... great.Spookytim1/2

I grew up on Cadbury land and most of my relatives worked for Cadbury's. The chocolate is not the same for each bar they make, becuase each different shape needs its own structural qualities and tolerances. Cadbury's have a huge army of chocolate technologists who each specialise in one sort of product or another.

Things like Buttons have to have a more 'eggy' elastic structure so that they are velvety and gummy, a flake has to have a very brittle mixture that takes a lot of sugar... also why its impossible to eat without making a mess.

    • If you grill buttons, they melt. If you grill a flake, it burns.Spookytim1/6

Texan Bars were always great in the 70's. They did a limited re-issue a few years back and I was so bloody excited to try one again.

It was really apparent to my adult palette that after the sugar had been dissolved out of the mixture I was eating chemically melted calf-hoof.

can't say i really eat chocolate bars these days... but i always liked the fry's chocolate and orange bars.

    • I always think of them as lady bars. Whenever my dad was out for the night, my mom would treat herself to a Frys.Spookytim
