I wrote to netflix about this and all I got back was a stupid "we are working on it" email. it is bull-puckie that I can't view movies on my mac. Maybe we should ask fo ra discount since we aren't able to use the service to the full potential?

there should be a a way to cloak the browser into a windows browser running on windows and use a player to play the streamed video.

Do you guys think it has something to do with Netflix competing with Itunes for movie downloads? I am sure apple has a tight grip on any rights relating to the software or something.
I don't know any details, but it frustrates me as well.

there is competition, but both Apple and Netflix has two entirely different movie selections. netflix plays a few new titles and tons of old stuff. apple purely plays new releases "online" a few months after the DVD is released.

it's the DRM

What is the DRM?

Freaking DRM is ruining my evenings with the old lady! I am pissed at DRM.

yes, you can spoof the user agent and successfully download a movie, however, all you will end up with is a wmv file with embedded drm that will not play on anything but windoze media player
- wmp on windows that isacescence
- so you still wouldn't be able to play the file even if you have say...VLC or WMP?doesnotexist

- damn!doesnotexist
- so if i am paying for the netflix service, i'm not getting my entire benefits. i should get a Mac discount of 25% or so********

Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, happens to be on the finance committee of Microsoft’s board of directors.
Mac support = never

I believe I read something a while back in my doctors office stating that the CEO of Netflix was pissed at Steve Jobs and his cocky attitude that iTunes was going to take over video renting in the next coming years.
But oddly enough he did admit that he thought it will effect Netflix's future by 2015 (which is not too far off when you actually think about it).
