All because of grasping, greedy, melodramatic bureaucrats. Happy birthday to me. This style guide would've been done and delivered months ago otherwise. Oh, and a buddy from back home is in town. Haven't seen him since I got married.
Friend: "Wanna go get beers?"
Me: "Nah, I've gotta overhaul a 50 page style guide. By Monday night. So...find some way to entertain yourself. I'll be keeping this desk warm for a while. Oh and welcome to St. Louis."

If it happens regularly, leave the job.
If it happens occasionally, suck it up - it's just 'agency life', you'll get that at most places.
The shitty thing is that it's not a rush job and sounds like you've been fucked around for months.
Worth mentioning though - if you get off QBN, you might get it done by end of today.

Yaff – how much would you say is "regularly"? I work at least a couple hours over the wkend 1–2 times per month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. There have been a few weekends so far this year where I worked the entire weekend, pausing briefly to sleep, eat and say hi to the wife. I will say summers are a lot slower, though this year things are wacky and we're busier than usual. About 2 months ago, I was on the verge of serious burnout.
I think we might be understaffed.

Hey man, that sucks you have to work over the holiday weekend. But a good friend would understand your dilemma.
