I was wondering if anybody here has voided their warranty and swapped out their 5400 drive for a faster bigger one of these...

the warranty is voided by this?! how?!
fuck that. if anything goes wrong, just drop the old drive back in.
*problem solved...unless they got an ink tag on that shit.

    • Warranty is void as soon as you open the case beyond the RAM plate.ismith

It is not as easy as replacing a macbook drive so they probably just don't want a bunch of clowns poking around inside their macbook pros fucking shit up and then sending them into apple with problems that need fixing.
I need a 7200 300GB in there to be honest.

I almost did it a week ago but then I needed the money so I never bought the drive. I personally wouldn't do it until the warranty is up (mine is now) simply because it's saved my ass so many times... On the other hand, if you can find a cheap local "Apple Authorized Repair Center" you could get it done for as little as $20 +drive cost and no warranty troubles, sometimes.

    • thanks ismith. i was unaware of the "Authorized" option. I'll just make those clowns do it then if it won't void the w.Tark1/2
Not all Authorized places can do it, just make sure to ask them first.ismith2/2

Is 200 GB the largest option right now? It's all I could find on the world wide web.

    • I think you can get 250, but not at 7200RPM 2.5"ismith1/2
yeah, i found it for $140 with rebate. I am going to see if they can install it for me if i bring it to them. bet they want double that for the one they put in.Tark2/2
