me: "hello?"
my mom: "What's the website of that new apartment complex you're moving into? I want to show the girls in the office..."
me: "It's [insert web address]"
my mom: " I don't see anything. Just colors..."
me: "Hold on, let me check..."
my mom: "It's just colors...that's all I see..."
me: "hold on a sec...no, that's the right address..."
my mom: "just colors..nothing else.."
me: "Ah, well the whole site is in flash.."
my mom: "What? Crash?"
me: "No, flash."
my mom: "Clash?"
me: "no, no..Flash...F...L...A..."
my mom: "Flash? I don't know what that means.."
me: "[sighs] It's a web technology mom. You probably don't have it installed in your browser at work..."
my mom: "What's a browser?"
me: "What you're using to look at websites. what is it IE?"
my mom: "IE? I don;t understand..."
me: "Internet Explorer..."
my mom: "I don't know what you're saying...is it the www?"
me: "No, it's not the www..it's a browser program..."
my mom: "Well what if I use the google to find the website, can I see it then?"
me: "No, no...that won't matter..."
my mom: "But I always find everything on the google.."
me: "I'm sure, but you need flash installed...do you have an IT person there? Can you install that at work?"
my mom: "An it person? I don;t understand. And what is this flash thing? is it on the www?"
me: "Mom, I'll just show you when I come up this weekend..."
my mom: "But I want to show the girls in the office, and then you start talking all this crazy things...crash, clash or whatever you're saying..I'm using a computer and the internet is hooked up...I see the www.."
me: "Mom, I gotta go..I'll call you later..."
my mom: "OK...."

My mama is pretty good with the internets. Apparently leaps and bounds than most mothers from what I've read over the years here, haha.
Only occasionally does she have questions, and they are usually, "So you click the link and nothing happens ... perhaps what we do now is look at the task bar which is that thing at the bottom of the screen which tells you what windows you have and see if there is more than one Firefox."
To be honest that is usually her only problem.

My mom is like this too, but a bit better now. She's still surprised when browser resizing occurs (which annoys me, to be honest), and really doesn't get how to use various features in Word. I want her to start using tabs but that will take some time...
