This company is run top to bottom by nerds. And what do nerds do? Fall in love with features. They have thousands of developers arguing for every little redundant button. They have a position there called a Program Manager, which tends to be ex-nerds. These must be the people responsible for the piece of shit that is this website:

You are right insomuch as there is this attitude at MSFT that is kind of endemic (and I have many friends there and have consulted there). They believe that they have to do everything 10 X better than anyone else. The result? Software that is overloaded with features, takes ten times as long to install, and has annoying features like the talking paper clip. MSFT needs to learn that simple is better.

Yeah, Microsoft sucks. I'm just wondering why that is since they are to computers like Radiohead is to fondling unusual chords and selling you the same beat. Maybe it's just the "the thing" you've grown up to hate or love? Can you trace your hatred for Microsoft back to any solid proposition?

Well Corvo there is a business history there of using the dominance of Windows to aggressively cornering the market for many apps and drive competitors out of business. It's easy to forget now but there was a huge antitrust suit about MSFT just a few years ago, at the time they were even talking about taking extreme steps like breaking the company apart (never a likely option, but it was discussed).

I used to be very anti Microsoft. Then I got burned by Apple with some bad hardware. So, I switched to the "dark side".
I gotta say, I like being able to build a super fast PC for half the price of a Mac. The part I don't like, is that I can't run OS X.
