  Anyone know how to replace a laptop badge with a custom backlit etched one? I've seen some postings on notebook forums, but nothing really looks more professional than just a sticker.

  I take it you have a PC then if it's not lit? Just cut into the plastic topcase, install an LED and shove some cool lens filters in front.

  The backlit thing will be stupid expensive, as you'd have to actually scour away matter, something which current typical laser etching doesn't really do. Assuming you're talking about a metal laptop, of course. Even if it were plastic, it'd be quite a risky, non-standard manoeuvre.

  If you can forgo the backlit aspect, there are plenty of laser etching services out there - have a dig around your yellow pages, or just search online.
