please can all the kind souls of qbn crit this:
its my current personal project, i'm trying to create a travel journal application that's based around google maps.
standard front page:
http://www.retrex.com/mapnomadsample journal:
http://www.retrex.com/mapnomad/m…NOTE: it doesn't work in IE7 properly - could be to do with z-indexes in css, not too sure.
its a work in progress and i have some re-arrangements in mind for the user interface (mainly on location browsing)
some feedback on how it all hangs together would be useful. Thanks

I think you need to offer people much more before they will sign up.
I'd want to see some screenshots of the app and a detailed description before I'd even think about giving you my e-mail.
Taking it a step further, I like it when apps give you the option to try out the service before entering anything, I think that's a much more effective way to get people using your app.

The colors could use some tweaking. 1. The green background is super harsh. 2. The grey on yellow isn't working. not enough contrast. It also feels like you have things boxed in too tightly. Fonts are too large, boxes too small. Definitely give those grey boxes more space. The icons don't need to be the entire height.

It looks like you based it off a grid, but a slightly deformed one... I'd suggest touching up your alignments and making the text that are buttons a little more consistent across the page. Play around with the colors a little more, they could use some work. Needs a little more contrast.

sucks that the feedback here is always in the form of a *slap.
great concept. layout needs work, but great concept. you def need a place where the user can upload photos pertaining to the trip, to make the whole experience better.
great idea and i will gladly help you test it out on the mac side.

what about something more like this.....
also you are going to run into problems when people start racking up major miles.
