go on...
i've spent a couple of days on this and have had to churn it out but I've analised their old site and figured out pretty much everything that was wrong (yes - it did take forever!)
but am now about to send it through – and have started to dewll in that good old self doubt that plagues the meek amongst us (me!)
so please be kind and point out any stray pixels, garish colourways, silly font sizes, awkward tension and layout etc..
or praise... you know.. its all welcome ;P

Definitely better :)
That old site is rat-a-tat-tatty.

clean, easy to decipher, will be easier to use. aka, looks good.

its 990 wide - optimised for 1024x768
and as long as it wants to be... i guess
its got a pretty rigid 12 unit grid.

other than im not sure iff all of that needs to be on the homepage... i think it looks good, much nicer than the original
- this is a MUCH reduced version of the front page! see original front page....NewElpaso
- thats how much content it needed to go on + 'jazzy graphics!' :SNewElpaso
- no i get theres a lot of content... it just seems that some of it really should be inside in separate sections734
- sounds good - im jotting this down ;) - might be worth tunning this past him.NewElpaso
- after the first red box and first paragraph it seems like the rest should be somewhere else

Defo better than the original, however the red boxes are too chunky. There's too much contrast imho.
Did you try other locations for the navigation? It feels kinda...expected.

to be honest my nightmare on this site.. is the nav.. it feels under built..
but then again i reckon if i start jazzing it up for the sake of it.. it might just be a big ghey..

I really like the content page - body text feels airy and structured.
The front page? Less so - the toppest header's a bit weak, sub header feels out of position and I'd like there to be some link functionality in the ocean of empty space at right.
The body of the front page is awkward and messy - I like the idea of the bold, red highlight boxes, but their current position in the hierarchy is jarring. I really don't like the 50% red boxes at base - the muddy pink end-effect is awful. Have you just tried grey here?
Overall, I like the structure, but I'm not sure the gradient onButton or 45 degree line details fit - it's like you're over-compensating, trying to make it look like a website. I don't think you need to, I think if you rely on your expert knowledge, your sense of spacing etc will be enough.
If, of course, this is a cheapie job on the side - then, naturally, your version is infinitely better than their current one and would more than suffice. I'm just being picky.
- erk. by 'subheader' i meant tagline. Subheader, being main graphic, is fine.detritus
- heh, and there's a 'print' missing from inside 'expert knowledge'.detritus
- which is what i asked for? :D
will try gray and prob gray out big boxes too!NewElpaso - by '?' i meant '!'NewElpaso
- so you reckon hit it with a top nav as well?NewElpaso
- At least a little bit, yes. I think I agree with madirish about trying horizontal navigation. the v. nav as-is isn't too distinct.detritus
- christ, it's almost haiku-like. trying to stick entire paragraphs in here!detritus

get that pink outta there Jim!

i would love to see primary nav span width of layout, with more global items leaving that level and resting somewhere else (read: contact, links, form).
with that done; you can employ the real estate (now void) where primary nave was, and most likely, pull more of the varying content north on the page, but still maintain flow and an interesting grid.
just my 2 cents.

maybe hanging quotation on the quote in the top image? talk about being picky, idk it bothers me on the homepage more than the content but ehh just my 3 cents
