(Nov 15 07, 10:59)totally not true. the south loop is BOOMING. construction on almost every block. far south, say past u.s. cellular yeah, a little bad still but south loop is damn near brand new.
i'm out in wheaton, which is far, far, far west and my train ride is 40 minutes.
oak park areas are 10-15 minutes. if you want to somewhat stay near the city oak park is about as far west as you want to go.

you know what i would like to make? a 30 minute cheese tasting shop built on the franchise model .
- you buy a membership
- get's you 1 time/week entry
- taste new, interesting, rare, seductive cheeses for 2 min a piece, totaling 15 cheeses each time.
- you can by more on way out of store
- you can pump each other up and exchange desires/feedback via a social networking site (user-gen-content for us)
- can 'gift' someone a cheese tasting session, and/or corporate account to reserve entire place for function.i will call it...........'Easy Cheese'!
wait...

studderine. i'd love to live in oak park, river forsest or maywood if it were up to me. all stops along the l and metra line.
south loop has some absolutely amazing condos/apartments at the moment. i have a few friends who live down there and it's really nice. they are really doing a lot of work to make that place nice.
linkin park's name always gets kicked around. i've had a friend or two who lived up there. nice but maybe a bit pricey.
wicker park too.
i posted a chicago guide to apartments less than 3 months ago i think. had some really great info on there.
for the time being i'll be staying out in the far west burbs. i need my yard and personal space.... i grew up out in the country. what can i say.
:)
ps. studderine. we're hiring like crazy here. i can't see your work but we're looking for ux, ui, sr designers, jr designers and css/ajax developing champs.
