Stauffenberg was a bitch, he wanted to cut a deal with the west allies but keep the East (Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia) and parts of Italy within Germany.
He wanted to continue Hitler's plan, only was realistic about the odds of winning (less so when it came to his own actions)

Im too fucked up to comment on this properly, but Tom Cruise doesn't exist. Its all animatronics and cgi, thats why theres so many films with him out now, visual effects are now able to make him look lifelike.
Or I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
Anyway if it is cgi, its pretty bad.
