  Isn't elance where 'designers' lose all dignity and fight each other over projects a 13 year old kid from the Philippines ends up with because it only costs 10 cents a day for food shelter and clothing?

  Elance well and truly sucks balls.

  Arguably the only possible time to use it is if you're looking for a bit of practice work for a folio but to be honest if you're after that sort of work, you might as well just approach local charities and offer to do some stuff for them.

  I've never hired anyone from Elance either but I have used a developer from getafreelancer.com before who was pretty decent but you have to be so careful who you work with as the language barrier is often a lot more problematic than you would think.
