My situation:
I'm an independent software consultant. The company I'm in contract with is A++ when it comes to working environment. Cool people, smoke weed, they surf, play music, etc.. laid back! However the quality of work, direction of current project, and workflow processes I cannot for the life of me approve of or get used to.
Which is more important to my everday happiness at work, or to my career?
what should i do?

Whats more important you ask?
My own life.

son, you need perspective. you obviously have a lack or understanding. count your lucky stars. life is the people you share it with, not the work you

Best advice I ever got?
Do what you love and the money will follow.
Maybe what, a full year ago now I jumped ship from the cushiest job I ever had. It was a good pay, the people were great, every summer we'd get super hot and super dumb interns, I could literally not come into work 3-4x a month and it wouldn't get charged to my time off... but the quality of work sucked, my boss was clueless and I knew exactly what I was going to be doing at that company for the rest of my time there and that didn't sit well with me.
If I wanted to grow as a designer, and eventually move my way up the ladder I had to take a chance and leave. It was hard but a year later I'm moving up the ladder by leaps and bounds and it's been the best choice ever.
I guess you really just have to ask yourself what you want and what you're ok with. Staying at the same level and having fun, or thinking 5 years ahead as to what and where you want to be in your career.
Good luck man.

in my experience even the best environment isn't worth giving up good work after a while. while it's great, it's great, but you'll eventually want more and move on.

you can always give the weed smoking dudes a chance...try to raise the quality of their production and if it doesn't work out then leave.
as v4 said work isn't everything. its important but it isn't everything.
