Hmmmmm strange one this I have three FCP suites and although I have encountered almost every god damned problem apple can throw at me I have yet to experience this one..... try your quicktime perhaps update this. Also if you have a dodgy program then
this may be an issue....

thanks again for following up chossy!
yeah it is weird.. doesn't prevent me from working though but it's a little black cloud making me wonder what else i might find out later..
the copy and update are legit btw
i'll just wait until i have to re-do a clean install or plug in another output and will check if it fixes the problem.
i give up for now, thanks again chossy :)

that's the point, i get no option to chose from in my video playback menus.
codecs have been updated and refresh A/V devices does nothing..

try this..... go to the view drop down from your main program menu bar. Then select video playback digital cinema display MAIN then go to your external video and choose all frames... if this does not work then someone has fucked up your cables or your upgrade has fucked your computer up. One other thing to try is to ditch yo's preferences and start again this isa safe procedure and has helped me out in a couple of strange situations. Let me know how you get on or what the fix might be if you work it out seperatly from me feel free to email me if you have other final cut or editing issues.

nope, tried everything but there's still no way to turn external video on and see my display show up in the playback menu.
it's actually starting to really puzzle me, i might reinstall it later this week, will tell you if it fixes the problem.
thanks again for your help! will def email if i have other issues.

so you don't even get an option for external video?.

nah go into final cut program click on your view drop down next to edit and make sure you have external video on.

Right, forgot to mention that.
it's on Off there and I can't select All Frames or Single Frames though they appear as clickable, refresh doesn't do anything either. Thanks for helping btw!
