(Oct 26 06, 11:05)hurt my knee. played for a team in elgin for a year after rehab but i had to make a decision in my career as to what i wanted to do. baseball, a game that i loved but would never go anywhere as i was a liability, or... well... here i am. design. yay!
funny how things come full circle as i'm close friends with some guys who play pro now and i'm somewhat back in it again. i put on some catching gear over the weekend and caught for a buddy while at his house. actually his garage which was more than big enough. forgot how fast those guys can throw.

I married and divorced my first wife. I started painting again, and shortly thereafter started getting commissions for portraits. Started a band with my sister.
The first 3 months were tough, both emotionally and financially, but what doesn't kill ya...

kona - what years were you in the minors and did you play any of the NY Yankees minor teams?
i had a friend that used to pitch in the minors.

played for the lombard orioles which were single A in 1996, northwest storm which were also A 1997-1998 while i was going to college. what a nightmare trying to do both at the same time. signed with the iowa cubs for a year contract in 1999. played for a year. as a team i think we drank more than we played. got hurt sliding into second base on a rainy day and blew out my acl. game over. it's funny the timing of things. i hurt my knee and by dumb luck found a job as a multimedia guy for a company 5 months later during rehab. played a bit of baseball off and on in 2000 and 2001 for minor league 18 and over leagues.
as far as i know i still have 4 records that stand from when i played in high school.
my story isn't as bad as the kid i grew up next door to gruntt. he was the best man in my wedding btw.
he was a much better ball player than i was. he was playing for kishwaukee college in 1997 or 98 and blew out his rotator cuff. 2 days later he got a draft notice for the texas rangers. they wanted him to come to spring training. when he called them to tell them about his injury it went something like this...
"yada yada i just blew out my rotator cuff..."
"tuff luck kid" *click
we drank 3 days straight.
his dad pitched for the angels with nolan ryan. he was much better than his dad was and would have really been a good ballplayer. we don't talk about that hardly ever.

ditto.So I guess, if you're dating someone, don't marry them. At 24.

moved to austin with my ex blister
- Sven_sk0
i had finished school the year earlier so that means i must have been working freelance, bartending on the weekends, drinking too much and banging anything that moved.
don't remember too much about 24.
