why would you ever use a wide typeface? especially in a logo? what does it signify other that fatter letterforms? I'm trying to convince some company why their logo type blows, and i'm trying to find out why helvetica wide looks bad in this situation. The logo is central casting's:

The problem with their logotype isn't the width. It's that Helv Extended Oblique looks OLD. EIGHTIES. Show them their logo in 15 clean, contemporary sans serifs. If they have any sense, they'll see the improvement.
