I envy you man.
Just now I'm in the middle of the whole process to get permanent residency here in canada, but it's tough.

My mother is from the netherlands and back inthe day she had the option to get me dual citizenship but didn't. I wonder if its still possible

I think you can still get it. A lot of countries do grant citizenships to people who's parents were born there.

The funny thing is she did it for my brother but thought I wasn't interested. He was more nationalistic about holland at the time.

I think the deal is this: if you are an offspring of someone from the old country, then you can apply for a passport/citizenship for that country. but I don't know (suppose you were born in America) if you have to deny your citizenship in America (or enter country of birth here) I DO know that if you are second generation (for example my grand parents were from spain) I could apply for citizenship in spain or EU, but I would have to live there for an entire year before I could be accepted. along with other strict rules.. .or something... Im no lawyer so don't quote me on this.
Sweet deal, you ever travel there, your EU passport gets you through line.

there aren't many countries that would force you to deny your citizenship. I know japan would, but they are looking into it to change that. Canada is somehow flexible about all this. Germany for what I heard is too flexible on this regard. they allow you to get german citizenship even your great great great grandparents were the closest ones to you that were born in germany.

oh wow thats really cool vector, I had no idea.
I wonder if it has anything to do with WW2. But thats a great opportunity for anyone with ties to germany.
Someday I plan to do the Spain thing.

Yeah I know it's pretty cool.
I watched a documentary on CBC the other night about immigration in germany and how it is becoming a popular country for people to immigrate to.I wish I had german descent.
I just have spanish and portugese from my great grandparents so it doesn't count.

It depends on each country I guess. Finland up until recently forced you to surrender citizenships in other countries, but that has changed now.
