There have been people here and there that have been asking, so, I thought I'd give an update because I received some really amazing news.
After many rounds of chemo, and a round of radiation, my daddy's life expectancy has been extended to 1-5 years! That's a huge improvement from 5-8 months from last January (which would mean he'd be at death's door right about now). Although they say the cancer will eventually kill him, hes responding abnormally well to the treatments. Hopefully the more time we get better treaments will roll along as well. We're all filled with hope for the first time in many months.
I'm so excited. I can hardly sit still at my desk.
Thanks for all the prayers, phone calls, emails and advice. You guys rule!

i know someone with terminal form of cancer too, but the man is so positive and strong and he got a pretty long life expectancy!

That's great!!! My grandma went threw the same thing. Went from a few months to a few years. She finally passed 2 years ago this month. I was glad she stuck around and was happy and healthy for most of it.
Good luck to your pops!

aw guys thanks so much. I think i need to go for a walk, or a run around the block. I just won the lotto! My year just changed with a phone call.
You wouldn't believe.... It was so bad, so so bad, a couple of nurses quit even and said they would help us sue the doctors for missing his cancer, cos it was that bad and that far along and he had been complaining about it for so long and they refused to do any tests. They said he had acid reflux and gave him some tums!
My dad is diabetic and goes to the doctor a couple times a month for check ups to two different doctors. So, it was insane that nobody thought "Maybe he might have cancer. hmm.. let's check just to be sure."

I empathize with you Shellie. My Mom got diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s mantel cell lymphoma last year, went through 6 months of treatment and has been in remission now for 5 months. The doctors say that it will eventually come back within 5 years and as frightening as it is to know that she doesn't have many years left, the whole experience has really brought our family closer. I really try and speak with her as much as I can now and it really amazes me how upbeat she is after all the bad news and treatment.
Congratulations to your Dad and I'm glad to hear he's doing better for himself and your family.

I salute him--and you.

Congradulations, my prayers goes out to your family.
I had a specialist tell me I might have gastrul reflux as well, but he wasn't sure what I have. Makes me want to get a second advice.

I hate to be a hypochondriac but just complaining to your doctor usually doesn't help you much.
As most girls do, we get checked out every year. Turns out I had pre cancerous cells that could have lead to cervical cancer. they were going to tell me even though the test was abnormal, to come back next year and they'll check it again. I insisted on more tests, and they ended up doing a simple procedure that probably ended up saving my ability to have my own children one day. I was so freaked out the entire month of March.
Our health system is pretty fucked up. I suggest you guys not ignore things if your body is telling y ou something, no matter what some lazy penny pinching, sample pill giving doctor says. Second opinions, always. Sometimes, even a third.

that's great news shellie.

ever onward.
