"...I have no doubt that David Childs will come up with yet another magnificent new design."
so, what this was reall about was the crap design he came up with - i guess 'security concerns' is a great card to play when you're dealing with fragile ego's.
- blaw0
ha, ha... good call on the ego bit.

if i would have been libeskind i would have withdrawn myself including every design from that project and let someone else fill the spot who is extremely willing to do the middle of the road thing and is able to please everyone. awfull really since libeskind original concept was way stronger than it's current muzak mutated designs.
- unfittoprint0
they should make another competition.
Libeskind solution is fuking shite.
just another stop on the 'memorial world tour' for him.

WTC master site planner Daniel Libeskind originally envisioned the height to symbolize the year of American independence and the spire to evoke the arm of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.
Architechtural Bullshit or pandering to the whims of a over-sympathetic nation?
- rabattski0
it's just a matter of taste if you like it or not, however i think you shouldn't compromise, i've never seen a noteworhty architectual piece which consists of design compromises. it's like elevator music, no one really hates it but no one really likes it as well. wallpaper.

'the height - foundation of America' is typical creative bullshit. My project was better because it followed the angles of Benjamin Franklin toilet seat.
rabatski nailed it: good architecture is not a product of compromises. Otherwise it becomes something without an identity, incoherent, that has 'some good things about it' but sucks as a whole.

i object to the fact they are basing the design (in part) on something that already exists. what a shame.

"i object to the fact they are basing the design (in part) on something that already exists. what a shame."
what are you referring to?

conceptual architecture is fun on paper. but in the real world clients, citizens, etc...don't really get it nor do they give a shit.
as long as it's functional...it will be a success to the general public.
look to the morphosis diamond ranch high school as a good example.
beautiful. conceptual, but totally usable and functional.
- F_180
how about choosing a fucking architect that actually is located in NYC?
- todelete__20
i thought for security reasons they were only changing the bottom 150 - 250 feet. the rest will remain the same.
maybe i read it wrong.

designed by committee
what about the ultra-rich moms in the 'hood and their needs and wants for their private pre-schoolers who will be well grown by the time its built! we need to listen to them (they seem angry)
- Geith0
I wish they would have left Liebeskind's original design as is. It was a singular, beautiful vision. Now it is a clusterfuck.

Trump had little use for the futuristic, angular Freedom Tower model.
The plan "looks like a junkyard, a series of broken-down angles that don't match each other. And we have to live with this for hundreds of years?" he said. "It is the worst pile of crap architecture I've ever seen in my life."

HAHAH ROFL

"TWIN TOWERS II"
i like it, twin being two, towers, enforcing the plurality, and just in case you were asleep one the first two [that's 2] counts or are of roman descent, we'll tack on a numerical exclamation mark: "II".
too right! (2)

oh and guess which day don announced this! tuesday! (2)
peace!
(peace signs use two (2) fingers) btw.
- JazX0
