Im stuck guys, i dont know what the deal is, i had to take some work home today and at work i work on a mac, and at home i use a pc, every time i try to open the .fla i get "unexpected file format", anyone ever deal with this issue?
your mac version of flash is too old.
.fla on mac and pc should work with no problems.
check the extension and make sure its .fla
double check it in DOS as well (sometimes windows flakes on the ext.)
upload the file maybe we can save it down for you???
i sent it to my mac i got here at home (it doesnt have flash pro 2004, or any flash for that matter) and i deleted the extention sent it back to my pc and added the .fla extention to make sure, the icon switched to the flash icon, i double clicked it and i got the same error,, boo hoo hoo. awe hell looke like im gonna have to download the trial version of flash for my mac.. thanks for the help guys..
maybe try installing flash
Try updating flash if you havent. The version you have at work might be 7.# while yours is 7.0. If that doesn't work then resave the file at work as a normal mx file but you won't be able to use AS 2.0
why would you delete the extension? that could be the problem from the start. I cross platform flash all the time and never had a problem. In a Mac, make sure you save as n00b".fla" so it'll work in a PC. Adding any extension to a file in a PC will turn into it's associated program.
"it doesnt have flash pro 2004, or any flash for that matter"
well ofcourse you can't open an .fla file then.
anyways, maybe i misunderstood you but flash mx on a mac can't open flash pro 2004 fla files.
you need to use open with... and unlick recommanded programs.. then find flash on your mac.
