hey folks.
a client of mine owns the rights to some footage that's on a DVD...
they'd like to put it online..
how would you go about ripping the footage from a dvd?...
this is sort of out of my league..
i'm just the art-director..don't know too much about that sort of thing...do i need special software or something?...
any help would be greatly appreciated..
cheers

Its different for Mac and PC, but google around - and check version tracker. On the Mac, the only way I've found is to rip the video and audio seperately and put it together in Quicktime and compress.
Google is your friend.

are u mac or PC, Crucial question #1
Mac os X:
use Mac the Ripper to Rip the DVD
Handbrake to convert to a smaller 1gig quicktime .mp4 file
then use an application like 'cleaner' (youd have to pay for cleaner unless u know what yer up 2) to compress the footage for web

I've been using this... you can test iit - but you only get 5 mins of ripping at a time... not sure how much footage you need to rip.
