and i don't have freehand.
anyways, i have this job i need to send over to the client and no matter how i save it, or export it, some gradients fuck up (doesn't show proper). flattened (transparancy) everything and no luck. it's just with this simple gradient. anyone got a clue?

strangé.
so your client has illustrator too?i've had strange problems with messed up files caused by outlook/entourage compression settings.
maybe using FTP will help.

try increasing document raster effect settings (under effect) or transparency setups in Document setup (File). Try zipping file before sending ...

ah i'm being unclear. no it's between photoshop and illustrator. thing is, normally i save it as eps 8, i always test it by opening it in ps, and there is where the problem appears. but now i'm not sure if it really is a illy vs ps issue but rather more a color calibration issue since i opened it up in illy 10 (normally work in 9) and in illy it has the same issues. argh. double argh.

there are a maximum of 256 steps available in PostScript tae describe gradients, ken?
If yer gradients are very fine it could be a restriction....

have you tried saving it in say ai8 instead of eps8.. sometimes that may help.
if they are using photoshop anyway..

i've tried every possible combination known to mankind. seriously. maybe it's the restriction, never heard of that before btw mx, at this point i'm guessing it's color calibration between the apps (i had a system crash long time ago and since then problems with quicktime and colour issues, thought i had it fixed).
Q: what profile do you guys use at illy's coloursettings? and which one at ps?
