Overheard a tatted up guy with a beard ask for "mushroom coffee" at the local hipster coffee shop. Wut?
....before Googling, I thought I'd ask the awesome QBN dudes & dudettes to enlighten. Am I missing out on something awesome I don't know about?

Pulled the lower back muscles doing heavy squats on Monday night. Didn't go to work yesterday, today I'm only using the standing desk. This sucks, I should be home resting.

I used to play video games regularly about 10 years ago but haven't touched anything since.
Ive been thinking about getting a Nintendo Switch. It looks like a interesting console for causal gaming.
Im just worried that if i buy a Switch, ill play it for a couple days and then ill forget about it again -- waste of $300+.
- If you play Zelda, you'll get a lot more than a couple days out of it.monospaced
- The indie games is what seems to interest me more.desmo
- You can play it while taking a crap... nuff said..worth 300 just for thatdee-dubs

Sometimes I see people during the winter time not wear a lot of layers. I put on a lot of layers, and i'm still very cold so i wonder about my tolerance for the cold

I found a shirt at a thrift store about 10 years ago that has been my favorite shirt for me, just period. It was worn when I got it and now it's really close to death, despite me wearing it only a couple times a year.
I'm not super materialistic, but this is one thing that's hard for me to let go of. Maybe someday there will be another.
- When it dies sew lining into the back to reinforce and add an envelope style back for a washable throw pillow cover. Upcycle into your next favorite pillow.shellie

Is there anything out there that comes close to this type of music? I mean anything that is so damn funky and mind-blowing?? What instrument/computer is being used around 2:40??
- eno, man. fucken eno.futurefood
- no computer just great synth playing. my faves. seeing byrne in june again, cannot wait.fadein11
- oh yea, and fela, where this is all derived from.futurefood
- watch Bernie's synth work in Stop Making Sense film for a funk masterclassfadein11
- I know lots of Fela influence but I knew that had to be some kind of synth. I own Stop Making Sense album but haven’t seen film yet.HijoDMaite
- So he will be with Byrne this tour? Fuck I need ticketsHijoDMaite
- i know eno actually made samples of a lot of instrumental lines on remain in light. but wasnt too sure of the synths he used during that timefuturefood
- it may be a loop tbf, sounds more played tbh, just a great analogue patch.
@hijo nope Bernie is dead RIP, not even sure if he was on this album.fadein11 - watch stop making sense asap if you love talking heads, best live film ever (i am biased) and you get to see loads of bernie worral's insane playing.fadein11
- ^+1futurefood
- bernie worrel is one of those musicians, pops up on great record after great record and it's no coincidence.kingsteven
- gerry harrisons solo stuff of this period is fantastic too. https://www.youtube.…kingsteven

- Two more albums to go deeper... My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by Byrne and Eno and David Byrne's The Catherine Wheel. Same time period as Remain in Light.hellrod
- hah, on further reading... no shit this is probably the best explanation of that solo i've found... https://www.youtube.…kingsteven
- and this https://www.youtube.… more or less loops of adrian belew playing through a roland guitar synthesiser.kingsteven
- couldn't find it but apparently there's a certain live version with belew playing guitar alongside byrne and harrison that has some similar bits to it.kingsteven
- maybe frank zappa? or hudson mohawke if you want to listen to contemporary crazy shitfeel
- Angelique Kidjo a famous Afrikan singer will release his version of it soon, check this: https://www.youtube.…Bennn

Since my dad died it hits me every week at a random time, sometimes I simply can't hold myself and start crying like a baby...
When will be this over?- I can't even begin to imagine.

- Time will heal your emotional wounds and you will get better. Don’t hold it back when it comes – let it all come out.islandbridge
- sorry sted, lost mine recently as wellGuyFawkes
- Well put @island
i feel for you, sted. 13 years later and still catches me off-guard.bezoar - Don't think it ever goes away. Just acknowledge it as a life well lived. To continue the emotion like this means he was a good man and did well to his family.mugwart
- Crying is dealing with it. It'll stop when you dealt with it. I've been there (2006). All the best.jagara
- @islandbridge is right :)jagara
- It happens less it never completely goes away. My dad died 7 years ago between my birthday and Christmas, right before thanksgiving. The holidays are hard.shellie
- And my birthday usually sucks. But I've been trying to do things that make me feel close to him when i feel that way. We shared archery, so I'll go do that.shellie
- I like to take friends and show them things my dad showed me. For a little while, it's like he's there but just out of view.shellie
- so sorry. nothing wrong with crying. heal baby heal.dibec
- You will need to learn how to live with it.

I'm living in a foreign country, and for various reasons I can't speak more than a few words of the local lingo.
My old lady neighbour was talking to me very animatedly this morning for more than a few uncomfortable minutes. I didn't understand even a word of it. It weighted heavily on my mind all day. I became determined to put more effort into studying the language.
But on my way home, a more worrying thought passed my mind... a few months ago, her old pet dog had died. I often waved or said a hello to the old pooch from across my balcony. And a few weeks before it's death, I'd thrown a peanut across... It dawned on me, perhaps dogs don't eat peanuts, or it was allergic, or it somehow caused it's rapid demise, perhaps it choked on it...
Anyway... a few minutes upon arriving home, a knock on the door, hesitantly I open the door to the old lady - holding my missing bath towel. It had blown off my washing line onto her balcony.
- Sadly she's a heavy smoker and my towel now smells like an ashtray, so I'll have to wash it and hang out again... the cycle repeats itself.shapesalad
- Various reasons = you're lazy.i_monk
- dogs are allergic to peanuts.oey
- My dog finishes the peanut butter jar every time. No drama. And smokes 20 a day.MrT
