from what he's told me, the stamps would've been worth around $30,000 today, the case of wine probably around $500...
no use crying over spilled wine.

You have to figure in the sum of things a case of wine probably delivered more happiness than the stamps.

my dad gave me half his stamp collection when i was 14, apparently my grandfather traded the other half (the valuable half) for a case of wine back in the 60s...

i have a rare and expensive collection of stamps all predating 1945, with my oldest being from 1893. it consists uniquely of stamps from countries which were once french colonies, they are mostly full sets. most of them are from african countries and they are very colorful and beautiful!
thanks dad

strolling the grounds of my ruined country estate I assess last night's damages: in the fountain, twin swans, dead from apparent malnutrition; crashed nose first in the driveway, as if dropped from a helicopter, the scorched remains of my beloved 1962 Impala; on my hands, bloody lumps of gauze. Opposable thumbs: the last thing separating a man from an animal.
