He's the Bail Organa of America politics.

Mario Cuomo spoke out the other day, practically begging Gore to run for President again.
I think it would be so poetic if he didn't run and there was a vast campaign to write him in on the ballet and he won that way.
Yeah, yeah, I know...let me have my morning fantasy.

That made me feel all warm inside monkeyshine.
Heartburn again..

cheers guys..
y'know..he may be rigid..
he may have the charisma of driftwood...
and he may be married to the lady that started the PMRC and got stickers put on album covers..but man.....
when i read that, it gave me chills..
finally a democrat not afraid to say it like it is...
it's probably to little to late, and most likely shrub will steal the next ellection just like the past one..but wow..
just reading that makes you think..
maybe...
just maybe..its time the pendulum swung BACK...
and put the country back where it should be..
- Bio0
i am afraid the pendulum plans to stay where it is.

wow, even mugwumps have a say:
"whether you're a Democrat or a Republican -- or an Independent, a Libertarian, a Green or a Mugwump -- you've got a big stake in making sure that Representative Democracy works the way it is supposed to."

Yah, that was a good thing to read. I think it's validity is strengthened by the fact that he's not running for President, and by the fact that it wasn't a speach by a candidate.
I wish he would have said something about what I think is a factor in our economy going down the drain, and that's so many jobs being sent overseas due to cheaper labor.
I don't know, I just feel like if those jobs were staying in the US, even if it meant higher costs for the companies doing so, that in would have a positive effect on the economy in that more people making money and working = more people spending = better opportunity for certain products we buy to be made in the US.
Just read yesterday in the Wall Street Journal how AOL has an office staff in India now close to 1,800 employees, and it's basically a help desk and development facility.
I've been trying to find more to read about this, about how there's been much more talk lately of jobs going overseas. But the Gore speach is excellent, it's like a wake up call.

i know how you feel mg33....
up here in canada, freetrade basically killed small towns across the country..
most factory jobs relocated to mexico...
my dad worked at one as an electrician for 30 years, and whammo...they upped and moved to mexico..just like that..
threw tons of folks in my home town out of a job..
it makes you think...
if all these jobs leave..how the hell do the companies expect us to keep buying there products.?
and notice that although their bottome line is increased because of low wages in other countries..the end consumer price is still the same..or most cases, increased?ye gods...
anyhow...its a problem that has affected canada big time..just as its affecting the states...
as for the aol stuff in india...you've only read the tip of the iceberg..
many many many major companies are relocating there call desks there..
and folks there are being trained to speak and answer questions in a north american accent...
read about it in wired...and while i don't begrudge folks in india trying to get a leg up, and all...
you know..getting better jobs and stuff..
it still sucks to see folks here out of work ...oh well...
i'm sure at some point bush will find a reason to invade them...

"...I believe that we must stand for a future in which the United States will again be feared only by its enemies."
also i liked the statement about the Total Awareness Act being straight out of Orwell's 1984. that shit scares the piss outta me. because i DO have some things to hide.
=)

You're right, mg33. The fact that he isn't running does make it even more powerful. However, I wish any of the presidential candidates would contribute more than the same ole same ole soundbyte b.s.
Sigh. I'm depressed now. :(

If US companies didnt outsource work overseas, the US economy would be in much worst shape.
You might want to read a book on international economics.
