Mono, I'm going to make my point a bit more clear, so you get it and don't feel the need to be condescending : your no fucking Georges soros.
You're just a regular guy who puts some of his money in companies shares, and that's all there is to it, calling it "smart investment" like it's a sure thing is foolish.
    Remember 2007?
I'm not saying crypto is a sure thing, far from it, I'm just saying you play the same guessing game.

You're like a guy betting on horses, who thinks it's a sure thing as he has a "system", dissing people playing roulette.

    • lol, right okay. okay sorry about condescending. you did start making fun of me and I got a bit defensive.monospaced
    • have fun getting rich, I wish you best of luck with your predictions and outlook. LOL amazingmonospaced
    • Dude, where did you read I was planning on getting rich? Telle me where I wrote that.dyspl
    • Want to know what I consider "smart investment" as a designer? Learn new software, keep getting better at your trade.dyspl
    • Want to make money? Work your ass off, take extra freelance.dyspl
    • "Investing" at our level and yours, is just another hobby. You play with your money, and that's it.dyspl
    • I wasn't, I'm just having fun. Relax :)monospaced
    • FYI, my "smart" investing over the last 25 years got me through the 2008 crisis perfectly fine. It's not just a hobby, it's a huge part of my worth.monospaced
    • All I'm saying is that crypto is not the same kind of investing as a long term managed fund with real companies. That's all. It's too volatile to be predictablemonospaced
    • Investing with companies that publish yearly reports and prospectus' is NOT "betting on horses." it's WAY more secure than crypto, by any measuremonospaced
    • @mono, out of interest how much have you got in Apple? A lot I presume if dividends are paying well. Just interested.fadein11
    • not that much really, not enough to make dividends a big deal in the long run, but enough to use on a rainy day for something meaningfulmonospaced
    • I think I had like 60k on apple stocks back in 2012. I would have to check online.pinkfloyd
    • I'm too chicken to fuck with cryptos.monospaced
    • I think people are making their money on short term currently, that's what I did after xmas, it was going up 30-40% a week (Ether). in out job. takes balls butfadein11
    • you won't get returns like that anywhere else ever. the market is going up, great time to buy. but beware of the HODL (unless happy to wait years)fadein11
    • but what do I know, I'm not complaining though :)fadein11
    • who gives a fuck if its worthless when making $$$... its not trad investment. its risky and volatile, hence the potential rewards.fadein11
    • also, I agree with everything dyspl sayspinkfloyd
    • nothing he's saying or assuming about me is true, thoughmonospaced
    • ^"have fun getting rich, I wish you best of luck with your predictions and outlook. LOL amazing" seems like you are the one assuming things :)dyspl
    • check that thread, and point where I've put any prediction or shit like that. I haven't even posted on it until today.dyspl
    • I was just joking about bennn freaking out, and you had to go on with your iamverysmart posture... that's all.dyspl
    • lol, I already apologized for that, and recognized you didn't say thatmonospaced
    • your schtick about my investments being only a gamble and not smart is simply not true, thoughmonospaced
    • cryptos you can compare to the lottery more than a stock pickmonospaced
    • investing in shares you basically sponsor and help people to develop their idea into this world, with crypto i dont even know where the money godrgs
    • rightmonospaced
    • an educated guess, is still... a guess. I'm not arguing about the fact you did your due diligence and alldyspl
    • but the truth is that you have no control over what happens, no control over any decisions those companies make etc..dyspl
    • and in that, it's still the same a crypto. granted crypto is highly volatile, but at least people here have no illusion regarding that fact.dyspl
    • that's my point ... a guess with a stock pick IS educated ... with a crypto it's not much more than a blind guessmonospaced
    • guess/gamble... see what I did?dyspl
    • Yes. But they aren’t the same, not remotely, and everything you said about my investing and assumed about me is false or just imagined.monospaced
    • Educated stock picks based on research, prospectus and trends is smart compared to buying crypto on hype. Therefore your comparison is nonsense.monospaced
    • Because if they were just gambling, then I wouldn’t have had predictable gains for the last 25 years.monospaced
    • ...I didn't say anything about your investing, you made money, good for you :)
you just seem to negate the risky nature of it while pointing it out in crypto
      dyspl
    • and make it into an argument about how stupid it is compared to your thing, which is in his core the same...dyspl
    • would it all go away if I said you were smart mono? like as much as your investment? It's all good in the end, it doesn't really matter.dyspl
    • do what makes you happy, and let it go.dyspl
    • and for the record, I'm not saying YOUR investments or actions are dumb. I'm just inherently convinced that trading in all it's form is dangerous.dyspl
