Get a locking system for your seat and wheels. It's about $75 but that's cheaper than getting a new bike. Get fenders for rain. Carry a rain poncho and keep some kind of oil around of sucky locks and your chain. Stay off 1st Ave. because there are some dickhead pigs giving tickets for running lights (yes, on a bike). I know fixed gear and single speeds are popular but Manhattan isn't flat everywhere. If you go over bridges, gears are nice. Those State bikes look great, but if you stand out the thieves will also admire your bike. My budget is $200 from Craigs List. Good luck.

    • thanks, i have been riding the city for 6 years tho, haha. I'm aware. Just looking for some brand recommendations is allcaterpus
    • Funny, that's how long I've been riding. It hasn't been that fun this week. I'm wearing ski gloves and a mask.CyBrainX
