the corn we consume in products doesn't come close to representing what native americans grew... in terms of space - 200+ years ago... the natives would yield about 1/16th of what is produced in the same space as today's corn is indeed an engineered plant that you'd probably get sick from if you ate it fresh off the cob...
... it's damned near impossible to grow 'natural' corn these days as you have to watch your back at all times for companies like Monsanto who actually OWN CORN PATENTS...
... corn is a screwed up industry and I feel for all the families who try to make their livelihood off of it. The market is pretty much set in stone as is the production quality of the plant.
