Productivity Software Nov 28, 11, 10:45 a.m.
We're looking for a new software provider to replace our current custom made solution... so far I've looked at:
http://www.functionpoint.com/
http://www.gotoadvantage.com/
http://www.clientsandprofits.com…
Does anyone have any other suggestions? tips on what to look for?
(we're a small agency, 50-100 employees)
Thanks!

Post your sources here, talk about it, etc. You know the drill.
Job Title / Promotion Sep 28, 11, 9:55 a.m.
If you want to promote a motion designer to be in charge of other motion designers, which job title would you pick?
Senior Motion Designer doesn't really do it for me, it's not ACD level really either... it's kind of AD level in a sense... ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
This being in an advertising agency.
IE10 to ditch flash Sep 15, 11, 3:46 p.m.
http://arstechnica.com/microsoft…
"Windows 8 will have two versions of Internet Explorer 10: a conventional browser that lives on the legacy desktop, and a new Metro-style, touch-friendly browser that lives in the Metro world. The second of these, the Metro browser, will not support any plugins. Whether Flash, Silverlight, or some custom business app, sites that need plugins will only be accessible in the non-touch, desktop-based browser."
Interesting development, it looks like MS is trying to simplify their software to avoid bugs.
Footage + Graphics Apr 28, 11, 10:36 a.m.
I am doing some research for an upcoming project and I'm looking for some videos that overlay graphics with real life footage, kind of like this:
Anything with real elements on top of graphics would work, do you guys have sites to recommend where I could search? I've looked at motionographer and artofthetitle so far, any help with this would be greatly appreciated! thank you!
Christmas eCards Nov 1, 10, 3:09 p.m.
It's that time of the year again! What are the most original and interesting ones you've seen out there?
I would've liked to work on that one (looks like a fun time): http://akqa.com/happychristmas/
This I really like conceptually:
Countdown styles Apr 13, 10, 1:22 p.m.
Hello crowd, I'm doing some visual research on countdowns... like the cinema 5/4/3/2/1 thing.
If you have anything interesting please post 'em up, animated gifs, links, lolcats, etc.
thaaaaaank you.

Amsterdam Mar 10, 10, 12:30 p.m.
Does anyone work and/or live there? I am thinking of moving and I'd like to get a feel for the city.
I've been twice on vacation and got a good vibe... but I know that visiting a place and living there are two totally different beasts.
How is it living there, expensive? how are the winters? what do you do for fun, where do you go, etc.
thanks!

Firefox finally surpasses IE6 market share! Nov 4, 09, 9:45 a.m.
http://arstechnica.com/microsoft…
"Internet Explorer remains ahead of the rest of the competition, but since month after month it continues to lose ground to all other browsers, Firefox has now finally surpassed IE6, which is easily the most hated version of Microsoft's browser."
I can't believe it's 2009 and we're still dealing with this crap!
Open Font Format for web Nov 2, 09, 8:12 a.m.
http://arstechnica.com/web/news/…
at last, no more shitty hacks.
"The result of the collaboration is called Web Open Font Format (WOFF), and it has the backing of a wide array of type designers and type foundries. Mozilla will also include support for it in Firefox 3.6."

Web Design - Fold Oct 22, 09, 1:01 p.m.
http://www.boxesandarrows.com/vi…
I've been going back and forth with a co-worker about the merits of laying out content above and below the fold.
I believe it's important to keep it clean and not cram a web page but that the purpose of any page should be apparent above the 650px mark... where do you guys stand on this issue? how does it affect the way you design your pages?

Online Calendars/Schedules Sep 3, 09, 10:29 a.m.
Anyone has examples of nicely designed calendars?
Something that shows a list of events, like classes, by date in a calendar format. (Not like the airline booking calendars where you just pick dates and search).

thanks!
Apple discontinues Shake Jul 30, 09, 2:45 p.m.
http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07…
This kind of behaviour by Apple really makes me wonder if they'll ever become anything more than a company that makes trendy and cool gadgets.
They've shown time and time again that they cannot commit to the professional markets, why would you invest in their product line when they could pull the plug on you at any moment?
