Freelance-friendly mortage lenders Feb 12, 13, 7:46 p.m.

OK, it's boring I know... Sorry.

I understand that a lot of lenders make it very difficult to get a home loan when your income is unstable/based on freelance work. I just wondered if anyone on here had recently had a positive experience with any particular institution? Perhaps a lender that was slightly more sympathetic to those of us without a fixed monthly income.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Looking for a font / some fonts where the upper and lower case both have the same x-height. ANy suggestions? Was pretty sure House Industries had a couple but can't for the life of me remember the name or collection.

Seeing Carson over there in the EC made me smile, I'm actually putting together a talk at the minute and wondered who you guys figured to be held up as today's design heroes?

In 98/99 when I was first learning about type and design I was learning about Tomato, Vaughn Oliver, Carson, Brody, Frost and Sagmeister.

Who are today's equivalents 12 years later?

Any thoughts welcome.

Animating bump maps in C4D Nov 9, 10, 2:53 p.m.

Hey anyone know about animating bump maps / sub-polygon displacements in Cinema 4D? I'm trying to do something but hitting a problem. The camera basically treats the peak of the bump map as the focus so the base drops away when it increases. I don't know if that makes any sense...? If you can help I can drop you a movie file to explain.

I received an email this morning from Fontlab selling these posters:

I replied saying they were hideous, uninteresting and just plain wrong in some cases.

They replied telling me "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"and that some of them had won awards. Anyone here beholding any beauty or am I being unduly harsh?

I've created a pretty simple model of some extruded text in cinema 4d but I'm getting errors with the model - something to do with manifolds and normals. I'm sure it's a 10 minute fix for someone with the relevant expertise, maybe we could trade for a print or something by way of thanks?

Quick Q: Is there a way to monospace a body of text in InDesign or illustrator using a font that isn't actually monospaced? Effectively over-riding any spacing information you have for that font?
