hide/anonymize IP for p2p apps Jan 15, 11, 1:53 p.m.

Anyone know a good app for hiding your IP from p2p bittorrent apps? Preferably not by using a proxy server, but rather by using lists of known bad IP's. Much like PeerGuardian from Phoenix Labs - phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
I've tried using peerguardian in the past, but it seems they aren't updating their blacklists very often (for example, you dont want to be connected to computer owned by HBO while downloading episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm). Also, University IP's are notoriously bad. The RIAA, TV Networks et al pay college kids to use bit torrent sites to capture p2p IP addresses. Then 2 weeks later you're served with paperwork about copyright violations.
Proxies are nice, since most ISP's throttle your d/l rate for apps using known ports like bit torrent. But I don't know much about that.
Any insights on getting around this are much appreciated!
Those with lectures on stealing someones copyright will be directed to the nearest bathroom, where they can go wash my dad.

this is a random question for a design board, but you folks have helped me out with stranger questions in the past.
I'm looking for a site that offers reliable peer reviews on finding a really good, clean, honest, caring etc. long term nursing/retirement home in the U.S. (specifically in Utah). A site like Yelp.com or Angieslist.com, but geared toward senior care.
Angieslist is no help, and I don't want to pay for their service.

ugh. hurts. problem is, my typical hangover cure isnt fully available.
1) drink a shit ton of water
2) pop 4 or so advil (xanax works even better if you have it, I dont)
3) take a hot shower
4) receive a blowjay (that is if your girl isnt too hung over herself) *this is the key element I'm currently missing.*
5) Try to sleep for another couple hours.

Just offered $30/hour to work on a rather large project.
This after working 12 yrs and as CD at a mid-large agency, then getting shit canned last week in the 5th round of layoffs. Pretty much chopped off the head of the entire creative dept at the agency I had been working for.
Holy fuck this is getting real. I can pretty much sit around doing nothing for $30/hr on unemployment. I just feel so insulted and yet I know I pretty much have to take it for a few weeks.
I would rather work than take unemployment, but holy hell what an insult. I would hire jr designers fresh from school for at least $40/hr before and that was WITH benefits. Fucking hell this sucks it.

I was up. Pretty much the entire night last night, due to insomnia as a result of an injury.
As I was sitting here in the dark at 3am, it occurred to me I can't ever recall having a dream about my mom. Not one time I can remember have I dreamed about my mom,
WTF does that mean?
Do normal people dream about their mothers on a regular basis? I guess I just felt this overwhelming sense of guilt, seeing as how she is the most influential and amazing person in my life. We have a great relationship, speak on the phone a few x's/wk and see each other 6x or so/yr. (we live 1000 miles apart).
But what does it mean that I don't dream about her? I feel incredibly guilty. I'm watching her get older and not knowing exactly what to do when she (who is single) cant take care of herself. Fcuk. anyone else trip out over what to do with their parents when they cant take care of themselves?
And no you sick fucks, not anything weirdo freudian shit, just dreams. any dreams. It seems so wrong that I wouldn't dream about my own mother from time to time, or at least anything I can remember. maybe I dont think about her often enough to invade my subconsciousness? fuck! I dunno but its freaking me out I don't include her in my dreams!

snowboarding injury...again Jan 8, 09, 6:53 p.m.

fock. so about a year and a half ago I broke my back and pelvis in a snowboarding accident (I was under a different username then, here is that post: http://www.qbn.com/topics/432096… )
so I'm finally feeling rehabbed enough to go again, and what happens? I tear my freaking calf muscle in my left leg. Separated the muscle and caused a huge hematoma that had to be drained because my calf got the size of a cantaloupe. Fucking scary and bloody awful painful. I think its time to retire from the sport I used to live and breathe and has brought me so much joy in my life.

Saw it last night, was just ok. I thought Sin City was bloody fucking (pun fully intended) amazing. Whereas, The Spirit seemed a distant 2nd place. Also, it was a PG13 vs a very hard R for SinCity or 300. Miller just isnt meant to make to make movies for kids.
Eva Mendes MADE this movie. So So great and so so beautiful. Samuel L and Scarlett were also very good, but the rest were a bit of a snoozer.
The story itself never really materialized, particularly for someone who never followed the graph novels.
I dunno, maybe Im just a crotchety old man and a hard sell, but I just thought this tried really hard to bite the cinematic style of Sin City, but hardly compared. Had Sin City never been made, maybe this would have been more impressive, but the it just set such a high standard, The Spirit couldn't really compare.

I downloaded it, I suppose just to have, never with the real intention of using it day to day, just like safari.

Not sure if anyone has seen this one man stage adaptation to the short story David Sedaris wrote about his experience while working as a Macy's Elf one year during the holidays Santa season.
I pert near pee'd my panties wet a couple years ago when I saw it. I didn't get to see it performed by Sedaris himself, but even so, the material is just so damned funny its worth seeing.

Puuhleeeze? This site is railroaded by a couple really rotten apples. They don't add color or flavor with their "totally unique and out-there perspectives", they just drag the entire integrity of this site down.
For gawds sake, please reinstate the ignore feature. I've said it before, and will again...QBN, you will GET MORE TRAFFIC and sell adds at a higher premium were you to allow people to bypass the inflammatory, derogatory, misogynistic, homophobic, racist and otherwise hateful speech that a handful of users get away with here. Which by the way, is a direct violation of the terms of use each user agrees to when joining this site.
Reading that shiite turns people off, and hence, they stop visiting the site=less page views=less ad revenue. Were there a way to filter out those users who consistently ruin otherwise great, provocative, helpful, insightful, funny and useful threads, traffic would go up and this site just might be a friendlier place.
I know I've certainly cut down on my visits here as a certain so and so has recently returned and decided it was up to him to dominate every attempt at a civil discourse.
I'm not saying people can't type whatever they want, I'm just asking that we have a tool to filter the tools.

Just returned from a VERY lively protest rally in long beach, ca. 1000's of people turned out for the event, which according to the cops, was an illegal assembly. Total bullshit. Several people arrested etc. All of them with batons in their hands just waiting to crack some protester skull. The right to peaceful assembly my ass.

I hate to caveat the part about me not being gay, I wish I were, believe me. I understand men far better than I do women.
I just cant believe the idea of crafting laws to take rights away from citizens. Laws should be made to protect our rights. the mormon church donated almost half the money in the campaign to pass prop 8. if their going to be involved in politics, they should lose their tax exempt status.
