i've had probably the best week ever at this job this past week. most likely because I'm quitting tomorrow. This has made me realize that maybe any job could be a good job if you pretend every week is your last week.

I'm working on a training video for a client for a golf swing analysis system that captures the golfers swing and produces a video with measured analytics. The client would like to have clips of this video in the training video. The video clips that the training system spits out are .flv's. How can I convert these so that I can bring them into final cut and chop them up. I downloaded ffmpegX, but it doesn't do anything. Any reccomendations?

i was hit by a car Jul 25, 08, 10:06 a.m.

wednesday night i went for a bike ride with a friend. we rode around st louis for a few hours and i headed back to my neighborhood pretty late. i was 4 blocks from my house when i was hit by a car. i was at a 4 way intersection, no one was there, a car was headed south towards me, but was slowing down for the stop sign, so i proceeded to pull out into the intersection, about 30 feet away, the car suddenly sped up, blew through the stop sign and hit me. i'll never forget the sound. i went over the hood of the car and i think part of my body hit the top of the windshield on the passenger side. my head connected with the street first. the car made a uturn and took off the way it came.

i never wore bike helmets very often but i'm glad i had one on. the doctors said if i hadnt' been wearing a helmet i would have some serious brain trauma. i was very lucky. the right side of my head is extremely bruised, part of my right ear was torn off, but it was sewn back on. my neck is seriously strained, the right side of my body is all road rash, my right knee is the size of a basketball and my left thumb was shattered. other than that i'm just really sore and heavily medicated.

i know alot of people on here ride bikes and bike commute. i just want to say, be careful and wear a helmet.

I need a new computer badly. I'm still working off a 5 year old powerbook at home. Looking to upgrade, but I don't have a ton to spend. Thoughts? Also, I was thinking of getting an extra monitor if I got the IMAC and two if I get a Macpro. Any monitor suggestions?

Heading there the middle of august for a wedding. We only have 3 days to spend there. My wife has never been to the west coast. I used to live in Seattle, but have not been to Portland in years. What is there to do, where to stay? Is it worth it to try and get to the coast? Any ideas helpful!

So, the wife and I have credit vouchers on NWA and that we have to use in 3 weeks or we lose them. Neither one of us has ever been to San Fran so we were thinking of check it out for a weekend. Any ideas of what to do or where to stay, eat... all that? I was going to look for hotels on priceline or something as we don't have a ton of money. (No christmas bonus this year). Is the SFMOMA cool?

ok. need some advice.

my current job sucks ass. but it's good money. i'm thinking of quitting though in the next few weeks to go to poland for a month and work on an online business with two friends who live there. they are developers who will work on the backend whle i take care of design. we've done alot of research and we think the business could be very profitable. of course like any business it could also be a bust. but you never know unless you try. right?

anyways. i've got enough cash saved up that i think i could have a few g's left when i return. the only issue i will be jobless and have to find another job. i've been interviewing with other companies, but haven't found the right fit yet.

also, i'm getting married this november. i want to make sure that my future wife and i won't be in the poor house. she's supportive of me going. (she can't go because she can't afford quit her job) so i pose this...should i do it? or should i stay at the current job and keep looking for a new job while i've got a paycheck?

I've never used motion. anyone have any good resources or books to get me started with this? it's for an animation sequence similar in style to the end credits of 300.

so, i recently upgraded my HD in my macbookpro. I went to the apple store and actually paid for leopard (stoopid) after installing i realized that leopard doesn't come with garageband anymore! you dont' even get any of the useless other apps like iphoto and all the other i apps. rediculous.
