Html by hand or GUI? Nov 12, 09, 11:12 a.m.
I've coded(or wrote markup to be exact) everything by hand since I started. Back in 2000 or so I experimented with Dreamweaver's "design" view, but dropped it pretty quickly. I assume most people write by hand, but I suppose I could be wrong.
So, what do you do?
Skate 2 Jan 22, 09, 1:11 p.m.
Oh yeah!!, going to pick up my copy in about 20 minutes.
Skateboarding Jun 11, 08, 12:30 p.m.
Skateboarding is pretty much more awesome than anything. Even girls. Well....yep girls too. Anyone else share my thoughts on the subject?
eh....I guess skateboarding and girls are tied. A girl you just met and have been with for a month or so though. Anything over 6 months, no way. Skateboarding wins.
Large Prints/Paintings Jun 11, 09, 5:32 a.m.
I bought a new house recently, painted and now I'm ready to buy some artwork. I'm wondering if anyone knows of good places online to buy prints or paintings. I looked through 100 pages on ebay and barely found a handful that were considerable. I'd like it to be about 60-72 inches wide and could be split into a few canvases. I'm looking for modern looking pieces with clean shapes and what not. Apparently ebay only accepts paintings with dead trees. Because 80% of the art on there has dead trees in it.
thanks!
QBN t-shirt Sep 24, 08, 8:02 a.m.
I'd like one or two. An official qbn person should get some printed. You can pre-order me 2.
T-Shirt Prices Dec 31, 08, 6:36 a.m.
http://123klan.bigcartel.com/pro…
I was going to buy this shirt...until I realized it was $32.00. I mean shit, That's fucking high for a t-shirt. I have trouble paying any more that $20.00 for a t-shirt, but $32.00. Why?
Film School? Mar 31, 09, 12:11 p.m.
So, my 17 year old brother wants to go to film school. I've tried to talk him into graphic/web design, but he's not trying to hear it.
He's get his heart set on USC's film school. Can anyone recommend any other schools that have good film/motion programs.
Many thanks in advance
Email format? Dec 31, 08, 6:32 a.m.
My email signature is as follows:
Name
Email
Phone
Website
Personally, when I see graphics as signatures I cringe. I think email signatures should be simple and never contain images. Just curious on other's views.
Camera Tripod Suggestions May 11, 12, 12:33 p.m.
My current camera tripod is garbage and I'm tired of dealing with it.
I'm looking for something more middle of the road price wise. I'm not going out on location anywhere and I don't need mega precise leveling or anything. I just want something sturdy that's not a piece of shit.
100% css height Dec 16, 08, 8:58 a.m.
Okay, I can't get this to work for the life of me. What I'm trying to do is make the right column div 100% height, but it stops at the end of the content. So far I have:
html, body {
height: 100%;
}
#container {
height: 100%;
}
#right_column {
float: right;
height: 100%;
}
There are other attributes to the styles, but they're not important. I can put a height in pixels and it works fine. I've found a few tutorials online and they all specify basically what I've done above. Also, I've tried using min-height in place of height in an array of different combinations, but none seem to work. The left column will always be quite longer than the right, so I need it to be 100% of the page. Thanks.
Office Party Dec 12, 08, 7:50 a.m.
My office party is tonight. My girlfriend is gonna be designated driver. I didn't wanna go at first, but it might be fun. Apparently there is some gifts to win. Plus an open bar.
HTML 5 wtf? Jul 7, 09, 7:57 a.m.
I've been reading up on the HTML 5 spec and at this point I think it makes things more confusing. Aside from the video and audio tags which are interesting and seem to be going in the right direction.
Other than purely search engine food, the <header>, <nav>, <footer>, <article>, <section>, <aside>, etc tags seem to make things more confusing. More than likely, you will be adding additional classes or id's to style these elements making the markup more verbose.
For instance, sites often have a top and side navigation or navigation options in the footer. That's 3 seperate navigations which a sole <nav> tag couldn't cover and would need a class or id. How exactly is <section class="foo"> better than <div class="foo"> for "generic" sections? Perhaps while organizing a stylesheet, but it seems like a step backwards to me. div's work well. I name it what I want, how I want.
Am I missing something?
After Effects or Premiere? Apr 30, 09, 8:14 a.m.
Okay, so my company is gonna pony up and buy one of these.
I'll be making mostly instructional videos. Most of the graphics will be simple, but could be complex at some point. Other than text, most of the graphics will be imported from illustrator and animated without a load of effects and what not.
After Effects is what I'm leaning towards, but it's $200 more. I know After Effects has loads more features, but would they're be anything I'd be missing out on editing wise with After Effects vs Premiere?
Fireworks? May 29, 08, 9:59 a.m.
Seriously...why is Adobe still developing this program? Their Adobe Labs site boasts the title "Rapidly Prototype and Design for the Web". Personally, I don't prototype web sites as much as others as my work is mainly print but, photoshop works great to make comps or just a photoshop/css/html combo as you were designing a site and not just a comp. Also, they go on to feature their CSS and image export capabilities. Would you really want Fireworks writing your CSS? I wouldn't. I'm not sure how exporting images is so awesome either. Photoshop handles that quite well already.
Maybe this is geared towards amateurish designers or coders. Not sure. I always thought they were phasing out Fireworks
build an iphone Sep 3, 08, 5:38 a.m.
I was at another forum and saw a post about someone selling iphone parts. I then started to consider maybe assembling one for fun from parts. I guess getting to OS would probably be pretty tough. Other than that, anyone think it's possible?
php on Mac? Jan 16, 08, 6:03 a.m.
so, I'm just about ready to make my switch to the Apple Mac. I really do like the operating system have wanted to do this for some time (it's just so shiny). The only thing holding me back is the development side of things. I know(I think) it comes with Apache web server. But, installing php seems to be a lot more involved from what I've read and I haven't even looked into getting mysql running let alone all the extensions I need like CURL, GD, etc.
Anyways, just looking to see if anyone does any php scripting on their Macs and how it compares to a Windoze enviornment.
Thanks!
PHP bulk emailer Apr 29, 09, 7:43 a.m.
Anyone have a php bulk email program that they use and like? I've searched, but the list of software out there is massive. I've got about 10,000 email addresses at the moment, but that amount is always growing.
I'm not looking for any freebie scripts either. Something with a GUI that is easy to use preferably. Thanks!
Bosses suck Dec 8, 08, 9:54 a.m.
My boss has really been getting on my nerves lately. Just wanted to rant.
Google is mad slow Sep 16, 09, 9:39 a.m.
