Zero Internet For A Year May 3, 13, 11:23 a.m.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/1…
"Spending a whole year completely free of the internet is probably unimaginable to most. From computers to tablets to phones, accessing the internet has never been easier. So imagine the difficulties faced by Paul Miller, a technology writer for The Verge, when he decided to unplug himself for a year. Starting April 30, 2012 at 11:59PM, Miller unplugged all the cables, shut off his Wi-Fi, downgraded to a “dumb” phone and proceeded to discover life without the internet. His goal was to “...find the real Paul, far away from all the noise, and become a better me.” We won’t tell you how this story ends but suffice it to say, his conclusions about the internet were not quite as expected." - The Verge
Let's do this!... I'd last about 30 mins.

Adobe Game Dev / Adobe Scout Dec 24, 12, 2:29 p.m.
So I've been dipping my toes into the Cocos2D pool for a while but haven't really gone nuts and started to develop a game project properly with it... I've also considered Flash of course to develop games but have heard rumblings about performance, etc. so I've avoided the possibilities with it I suppose, despite my comfort level with it. Likely an idiot move as it may turn out.
Anyway it appears Adobe has unleashed some sweet new game dev tools ( http://gaming.adobe.com/getstart… ) and I have to say they've got my attention now, particularly with Scout and the SDK.
Anyone already using Scout and having a good time with it? It looks like they've created something here that takes care of all the bad press they get as far as using Flash for game dev and the resulting performance probs...
The Prodigy Experience Sep 21, 12, 10 p.m.
today marks the 20th anniversary of the prodigy's seminal experience lp... i remember venturing downtown with great excitement to 'overpay' for my factory fresh uk copy at odyssey imports, only to about face 'n race home as fast as i could to get it in my crappy cd player.
it changed the face of dance music and honestly it changed my life. it has been a staple sound in all of my mixtapes, playlists and ipods since that day in 1992.
thank you liam howlett, you got the poison.

TWS Fly Society Logo Contest Jun 28, 12, 1:06 p.m.
Just saw this posted on The Facebook... "Terry’s clothing line is growing by leaps and bounds, season after season, so what are the designers constantly racking their brains for? You guessed it—mad, ill, new Fly Society logos! So fire up your Photoshop/Illustrator skills, or just bust out colored pencils, markers, and paper and make that new FS logo! We’re going to film Terry himself and the Fly Society designers pick the winner, so bring your A game!"
Coolest Kids' Big Wheel Ever Apr 29, 12, 10:41 p.m.
Saw this magnificent beast on Pic of The Day which sparked an insatiable curiosity - did some recon to find more photos of it... Let's just say I may be looking at my next big project for my almost 6-year-old son for the summer. He will own the block!
The ideas are brewing... like tearing that briggs & stratton off the lawn mower to bring such a beast to life, add a dash of yoshi exhaust and a nos tank and we're getting somewhere...
Machform Form Builder 3 Mar 12, 12, 11:39 a.m.
This is not a spam psa... I'm not going to get a free coupon out of this or a brownie badge, just a friendly shout about an html/db form builder I've come to trust and use quite a bit and may help some of you devs who haven't seen it before. I've installed and hacked this thing many times across several sites and it's always solid.
I just noticed it has released a pretty major upgrade that now supports multi page forms, Paypal integration and a drag and drop builder.
And the best part is it's supported relentlessly the dev - Yuniar who's based in Indonesia who is always answering inquiries on the forums and offering help, which is unheard of with some other apps out there.
I'm just checking it out now but I can see the Paypal thing being a worthy reason to upgrade in certain cases for me...
Cocos2D Game Development Feb 12, 12, 4:50 p.m.
Hello fellow Newstoday® membership. So... I'm diving head-first into iOS game development and am doing my best getting up to speed with the nerdtastic world of Cocos2D.
I have been enjoying Ray Wenderlich's "Learning Cocos2D" and am getting familiar with C2D's possibilities. And of course I've been all over the dev forums and blogs etc. Installed Lion and the latest XCode fresh and even bought some helper apps - SpriteHelper and LevelHelper - they look like great little utilities and will prob save me from goobing around with spritesheets and backdrops at some point. So I think I'm set.
I am primarily going to focus on classic 2D scrolling games and fighting games like Snooki Fighter II, etc.
So what I'm wondering is if some of you have headed down this path and if you might have some helpful tips or resources that you stumbled upon that made things slightly easier.
I'm thinking of maybe looking at other dev books or even something that might help me to regurgitate a crazy game idea into a nicely organized sketch or storyboard. I will create some sketching templates for level backgrounds and character sprites myself, but it would be cool to find something to learn from, etc.
Your dev thoughts, stories and tips are greatly appreciated.

Illustrator 3D Vector Faces Plugin? Oct 16, 11, 1:59 p.m.
For the life of me I can't find the free plugin that was discussed here a month ago where you plot points on an image and it creates a vector line version with depth. It was on some guy's tutorial blog for download and qbn'ers were posted examples of people' faces all vectorized... ringing a bell for anyone?

Lady Bug ColecoVision Signed by My Roommate - BUY IT NOW US$2,500
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LADY-BUG…
"This is it. From my personal collection, complete, original and unique: the ORIGINAL American ColecoVision Lady Bug, signed by Aaron Wolfson the 07/29/2011 in Philadelphia (U.S.A.). You can see me and Aaron in one of the pics.
FIRST TIME ON EBAY! ALL SERIOUS OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED
If you are a hardcore videogame collector you know what this is: simply a rare if not THE RAREST videogame on earth; a lot has been said about the numbers but is rumored only 300,003 to 300,008 copies exist worldwide. Personally I know only three: mine, the one exposed not for sale in the trash bin, and another in the hands of a collector friend of mine.
This unit is the only signed by the roommate of the owner of this copy of Lady Bug, Aaron Wolfson. This game was bought by me 10 years ago for $0.05.
This is truly a rare, exclusive, elusive, obscure and desirable centerpiece grial (WTF?) for any collection, it has all: great franchise (Lady Bug), great history (ColecoVision vs Fairchild Channel F, you can google that), lack of scarcity (so many copies) and exclusivity (signed by Aaron). You can expect no more.
I'm owner of several of the more sought after videogames on earth (Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, etc.) and you can bid with 100% confidence my items are real, I'm more than aware of chinese fakes and I assure you mine are the real deal."
