Lighting Tutorials Dec 9, 11, 11:05 a.m.

Anybody know of any good sites that have tutorials for still photography lighting?

I'd like to do a shot similar to the one one below and I'm sure there's got to be a tutorial site out there that has a demo for this setup. It looks like 1 key light and 2 rim lights, but I'd like some tips on the lighting ratios, distance of the lights, angles, etc.

My office has contracted a developer to build a site for us. When they gave us the CMS I discovered I cant apply Jquery sortable list functions to it because it's written in tables.

I'm trying to make the argument to my higher ups that we should kick in the $$$ to use a CMS that lives in 2011 and one (of many) arguments is that layouts should be semantic.

Just wanted to get some outside opinions. Using a table for non-tabular data is essentially a hack right?

I know there's got to be a thread for this already but QBN's filter is less than stellar.

Looking to find nice scripty hand drawn logos and/or type treatments along the lines of this thing-

Anyone ever done any?

I hear the best quality shots come from very expensive panoramic cameras, but I'm hoping maybe I can find a relatively cheap lens for my relatively cheap canon.

I keep designing more and more sites with wide photography (keep it above the fold) and would like to get some backgrounds and textures better suited to that format.

I thought this site did a nice job with this format, and you could really do some nice stuff with panoramic photographs.

This basically does what I need it to, I just need to reskin the modules that lay on top, set type styles and colors. Pretty straight forward css theme work

I'd prefer someone in the Los Angeles area who has some examples of wordpress themes they've done.

In all of the places I've worked at Designers reported to Art Directors and definitley didn't make as much money.

I found a site a few months ago that sold photos of stuff you could photoshop your work onto for your portfolio- blank magazine spreads, blank t-shirts, blank bus stop ads, etc.
I thought I book marked it but I can't find it now. Anybody know a site that sells that stuff?

Jquery if() statement May 24, 10, 3:14 p.m.

I am trying to get jquery to chack and see if a class is present, but for whatever reason it always returns true.

To test this I pasted the following into a blank html doc and it still returns true.

Anybody know of any decent studios I could work with in Latin America (I'm based in LA)? I know there are great studios in Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, etc, just not sure where to find them.
